https://www.autotrader.ca/a/mazda/ma...=250&modalXS=1 Since an MS3 was posted today - I thought this represents a decent buy. At least it has been kept well. Kev |
Damn a MS6 is one of those cars I've always wanted but (ironically) never had the courage to buy. I once called a shop that specializes in the ecoboost motors in these MS products and they told me to stay far far away. I'm pretty sure that was one of my first threads here LOL. Edit: Ecoboost shop (Stratified) not sure if they ever got back to me. Don't remember. But a Mazda shop told me to stay the F away. (Thread) |
The MS6 has horrible seats, all flat no support no bolster. MS3 seats are so much better. |
Clutch is shit too and it falls off boost in gear changes (not a recirculating system) so the 1-2 shifts are like getting tossed around |
? The MZR-DISI certainly does have a recirculating boost system.... |
The MZR DISI is recirculating. If the one you drove isn't then the owner messed around with it and it wasn't tuned properly. Did it for the psshtpssht noises. |
Really? It fell off boost completely in gear change… interesting |

It'll stop the party real quick if it detects even the smallest hint of wheelspin, which is easy to do hard shifting from 1st to 2nd. |
Test drove it in the USA from a used car dealer like 10 years ago so I’m not sure haha… probably then it felt like power wise it killed itself and then had to build boost all over again. |

On my 235 PS4S's it'll chirp them in 2nd a little bit, enough to make the traction control light of disapproval flash at me and cut power if I forget to turn it off :( |

The awd system in the speed6 was made of paper straws too, many many issues |
I had a really good experience with a 2008 Speed6 (the second of the two years). I bought mine in 2010 with 55k on it and sold it in 2015 at ~110k. It was really good to me. The one exception is that I busted a rear axle (cv joint). The AWD system has an electronic clutch pack that is computer controlled, but it is automatically off (2wd) when the ebrake is activated. So here I go sliding it around by pulling the ebrake, and then slamming down the gas pedal as I release the parking brake, so the rear diff got an impact load and twisted it enough to pull on the cv joint and the balls popped out of the joint housing. |
My car has been the most reliable car I've owned. Because of my vehicle allowance for work I keep pretty extensive records: Nearing 13 years of ownership, the only "major" problems I've had which caused any sort of driveability issues was the clutch slave cylinder at 4 years/59000kms (fixed under warranty) and the primary O2 sensor at 9years/99500kms which I just changed myself. Other than that, just oil changes and normal maintenance/wear items: Air Filters, Spark plugs, Coolant change, front brake pads/rotors, Battery, Serpentine belt, Rear shocks and rear sway bar link. Total cost of all repairs/maintenance to date (excluding tires/wheels) is just a hair over $4000. Not bad for 13 years. |
Damn, I could only dream of $4K in maintenance/repairs on the Porsche over a 10 year period lol |
I couldn't imagine. All my parts I've ever used are OEM Mazda from dealership to boot. |
Slightly off topic but is there any recourse when a salesman at a big dealer lies to you about a used car? I asked the sales guy how many previous owners the car had and he texted back saying only one even though I know it was previously owned by my friend who solid it to someone else so there are atleast 2 owners. Car fax shows a few owners as well, but some of those could be dealers |

Probably turn into a he said she said with VSA looking at the Carfax to resolve the dispute because it's the dealership's duty to provide the buyer with a copy. |
