I had a shitty example of an e36 m3 and a great example of an E46 330ci. The similarities between the cars is pretty astonishing. The E36 M3 is definitely much more fun with a shit your pants factor. The power band is exactly the same though. This is a great comparison, Westopher!

An alternative to the 330ci would be a BRZ/FRS. Newer. Mostly the same creature comforts, sans the amazing BMW seat heaters, rain sensor wipers, and random BS breaking that makes part of the experience. It sucked that my refreshed 330ci only drove as well as a BRZ and less fun in the shit your pants department, but more power.
