finally some downward movement in a car market that I follow.
E46 M3's are starting to come back down
lots of records, clearly taken care of
ya it's 2 pedal, but it's a desirable colour combo and that swap really isn't that difficult if you want to do it https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...5437155385052/

It would have cost about 6k to do.

			Just do this one then
Swapped already lol but no idea how maintained it is - I know its been on CL for a while. No mention of subframe either.
Although I will admit the color combo is much more rare in the black one.

How reliable are these 200,000KM M3's? How much do you gotta spend on average to drive it up t0 300,000?

minus the bellhousing machine work, I'd tackle the manual swap when the time came myself
no - I would never consider a pre-pdk 2 pedal porsche. The tip cars are junk.
reliability? I've never owned one. I'd get it inspected first. If it looked healthy, had the right history, I'd go for it.
My E36M3 has 230k+ kms on it. Actually most of my cars have over 200k kms. Doesn't bother me
I think 2024 will be the year I get into an E46. Either sell or trade my 996.

I'm pretty surprised the black M3 hasn't sold yet. Only 3 things holding it back I presume is US import, smg, and mileage - he had the miles listed as km previously. Quote:

I wish that M3 was dark grey or something instead of black... I just cannot do another black car, way too much trouble and anguish.
Interestingly enough on Jason Cammisa's podcast he basically said he kinda hated the E46 M3... always heard generally good things about it and always thought it looked fantastic, perfect stance.

I feel like camissa is just making a name for himself based on (stupid) hot takes. 190e is better than e30 m3. Us spec e36 is better than euro. Doesn't like the e46 m3. Guy is just a Hagerty commercial anyways.

yeah hes not a big bmw guy. he is a huge vintage mercedes guy so of course he'll say the 190e is better than the e30 m3. Also his appraisal of the mk7 GTI is over the top. its not the end all be all of fwd hot hatches. I think the CTR is significantly better than the GTI but i guess the price point is different.

			Re: E36 M3
The last time I saw my old E36 M3 back in 2022, it had something lik 300,000 KM on it. I sold it at 252,000km and it was on the original engine and transmission.
Despite being sold to another 3 owners or so, the car was neglected but was still operational. I don't really sweat the idea of high mileage cars as long as the vehicle was well maintained by a good owner.

Cammisa's opinions are often contrarian, but he typically supports them with explanations for the underlying factors that influenced his decision (not that I have the experience to argue against him anyway).

That said, the Mk8 R and GTI drive WAYYYY better than Mk7, it's not even close.
IMO mk7 GTI is the ugly duckling of the lineup.
Vague clutch/shifter, overboosted steering, etc .... but for 23k USD out the door with thicc incentives until 2020, that's Civic EX non turbo pricing.
Lastly from an LA/Ontario/Seattle perspective, CTR or Civic Si wouldn't be an option for me.
The Golf's road noise, interior materials and layout (massive felt lined cupholders in door panel, a massive slot for my scarf/touque on the left side of steering wheel), suspension compliance and comfort (did regular 8 hour drives in a day) are more comparable to a 5 series than an economy car.
It was so good that MB delayed the W205 launch by a year because of how good the Golf was.

fuck - i'm marketplace rusty. scam detector didn't go off. maybe the subtle colour tones of the IKEA parking lot threw me off
EDIT:
interesting - after a deep dive, the guy who won it on C&B's username actually matches the sellers name (sort of) on FB https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3g4...3-bmw-m3-coupe
Could potentially be real, but it's weird

I've heard the argument of US Spec E36 vs Euro Spec E36 as it just better as a daily driver. I've heard it multiple times.
Though the E46M, I'm hooked after testing driving a few. Coming from the F80 and I didn't hurt for power or torque. It was good. I was so close to buying on in 2020. Ended up in a house instead |

There's no resale value on the latter either.

I guess I struggle to see how high KM M3's can be a good buy. When buying a lower KM at a reasonable price point is the better buy?

I always do.
I also think it's possible for both 20k and 35k E46 M3's to be good buys Quote:

The problem is that the kids that create the need for 4 doors don't leave me enough time to build such a thing
