FNF Dreams Yo.

Looks like the price of the a supra is finally dropping

SpuGen 02-09-2015 08:04 PM

That Supra has been on sale for years now.

He won't move on price, and is about close to impossible to contact.

i posted this in another thread and now i think it would be better asked here:

i know someone with a 2003 lexus is300 sportcross, an oddball wagon that was popular with the chosen few (like me). it is green (i believe it was called imperial jade mica) with tan interior.

looks similar to this (albeit in not so nice condition):
http://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5574/14...ce845074_n.jpg

it's got over 300k kms on it and is very tired both mechanically and cosmetically (currently has CEL and an intermittent misfire, among other things), but it's a local one owner car with no major accidents.

i was talking to owner the other day and he was telling me he is getting a company lease so it might be time to let this go.

what do you guys think it's worth, and is it worth saving? they are rare, but only to those who like this sort of thing...

fliptuner 02-10-2015 07:07 AM

It's a good looking wagon and the drivetrain is generally pretty solid.

how much potential would a 2jz-ge with an automatic trans with over 300k kms have, within reason? no trailer queen or a drag car setups here.

hud 91gt 02-10-2015 07:37 AM

You've got my attention. When the IS came out it was one of my favourite cars. I never knew it came in a bloody wagon! Awesome.

Not sure what you mean by potential (you mean reliable? or getting power out of it?) but they're as reliable as one would expect from a Toyota. Maintenance history is everything.

PM me if you pass on it pls.

is a high mileage engine that has known expensive issues worth rebuilding, or is an engine swap in order? 2jzgte? i don't want to get into a neverending money pit project.

i'm greedy and i don't want to share lol jk. i only know what owner tells me unfortunately. he knows what he has but he only has one parking stall and it needs a lot of work so something has to give :(

i have no significant other, so my wet dreams at night often look like this...

... but in green, and it would have a fridge hiding under the front bumper and make wooshy sounds when you lift off the throttle :lol

underscore 02-10-2015 08:19 AM

^ if you want to turbo swap one it sounds like you found the perfect candidate. Although I'd wager you could just give it a tune up and keep driving the stock drivetrain for quite some time.

Thumper, that IS300 Sport Cross would be a great buy. I've only seen a couple in Victoria. I never even considered them.

I've been looking at older import wagons for a while now to have as a daily. I was mainly focused on the 94-97 Accord but the IS with Toyota/Lexus build quality would be even better. It would be worth getting it inspected to see what it needs.

Its been sitting for 2 years and the owner recently died. The current seller aquired it [got for cheap?] and knows little history.

Exterior 4/10 [needs repaint, but no rust]

Interior 7/10 [no rips, but worn armrest/door panels/no leather]

Engine ?/10

Engine:

CEL light on, bad o2 sensor
Idle is real low around 400
Misc oil stains on rear of engine and tranny
Decent amount of blow by when oil cap removed, and releasing this crankcase pressure caused the engine to DIE... I didnt have a compression tester with me, but thats enough blow by for me to know its going to be expensive
Possible coolant leak when hot, didnt really look into this

This car is more of a project imo. Just wasn't what I was looking for.

I've been looking for one of these cars for a while, it was my first car when I was 16 and have regretted selling it, but working for min wage wasn't gonna cover the cost of upkeep at the time.

thanks for reporting back with that! super useful as this ad really caught my attention

dont wanna start a new thread so I m just gonna ask here.

I ve been looking at this 2008 Acura TL S Type LEASE TAKEOVER

and was wondering what the value on the car is? in this condition, mileage and colour.

if i pay monthly its just under 20.5k. or buy out at 18.5k.

most likely going with montly payment.

I just bought a single owner, Acura maintained 07 TL-S, 9/10 condition, one small claim for $13200 from a local dealership (not a Hastings/kingsways dealership)

I seen that add while I was looking and I think it's a bit pricey to be honest.

$13,200 is a small claim? everything should be pricey for you then..

TL-S usually go for 13-15 range for rebuilts, 15-17 for high mileage/accidents, all the way up to 18-22 for cleanest/lowest mileage ones. I belive richmond acura sold one with 70k kms on it last month for 23k listed price, sold within couple days.

That one looks pretty clean and still with warranty so i'd say around 18k is fair even with high(er) mileage. I'd try to push for 17 or so tho
