The Silvia is just like a salvage title vehicle right? Meaning after repairs and inspections, it can be street legal again?

First two sentences of the ad read:

"Selling a Spec R Nissan Silvia ICBC Write off
THIS CAR CAN NOT BE PUT BACK ON THE ROAD"

All RHD cars through ICBC are automatically Dismantle Only status however Adesa I believe sells salvage RHD

underscore 03-14-2017 09:25 PM

If it's dismantle only can they even sell it? I know they changed a bunch of the laws so now the dismantlers can only sell X amount of the vehicle to one person.

I don't believe that is true. I have a family member who was in an accident with his double cab Hilux, icbc covered repairs.

I was meaning if they decide to write your car off it goes to Dismantle only title since its RHD. They don't want anyone repairing it for the road so it goes to the wreckers

But can't someone buy it for "off-road" use only i.e. track car or something like that?

underscore 03-15-2017 09:38 AM

^ not any more.

i have no proof of this, but someone told me that ICBC requires proof of destruction of the vehicle, ie. the shell has to be crushed or chopped up after it's been parted out.

this is an example:

there used to be pics, but this was a complete running GT-R with light rear end damage that ICBC totaled out. he used to say in the ad he wasn't allowed to sell it as a complete car so stop asking until he took a sawzall to the shell :(

Depends. I've seen stolen recoveries get a rebuilt title. Probably only ign and lock damage and the owner had already settled.

Somewhat affiliated, I know the previous owner and have been over the car as I was considering it last time it was for sale. A year ago I'd have said overpriced, but these are creeping upwards. It's been well taken care of, I know that.

99% sure IMS is not done. Also, as I've mentioned before, the next big 996 killer will be failing transmission pinions. I'd want the trans sump pulled and checked for bearing grease build up on any 996 inspection.

I'd believe that, I've spoken to a few guys that are permitted to buy these dismantle only vehicle and they can only sell X amount of it to one person. I would've bought a lightly damaged GTFour as a track car but they aren't allowed to sell it.

it's too bad the upper dash surround and vents is broken/trashed... is that gopro mount screwed into the dash something for track days?

dosen't appear stock... i see aftermarket exhaust and it's definitely lowered because stock height is like a 4x4. might have wheel spacers too. engine cover and intake manifold painted gold. brembo calipers resprayed blue. not 100% sure but the e-brake handle has a lockout for the release button. if true you know what that means...
