i must be more ancient than you. i used hit the public library for the latest issues of the buysell because my broke ass on a student budget couldn't afford to keep buying them every week :(

whitev70r 03-11-2017 01:38 PM

You all remember the days when you wanted to sell a car, you posted an ad on Vancouver Sun or the Courier, limited to x number of words, something like $50 for 3 days, higher rates for weekend edition, and additional $ if you want to put in a small picture.

Then something called the Internet and Craigslist came along and now everyone is a car salesman. I suppose fake ads is the price we pay for free listings. I mean seriously, who pays to list a car for sale anymore?

underscore 03-11-2017 01:54 PM

If you post on Autotrader you get replies from scammers and those companies that want you to pay them to list it for you. If you post on Kijiji you get Autodex calling you every day. And if you post on Facebook, well why the hell even bother.

FYI for anyone looking for a used auto IS250.... don't

IS350s are cheaper and overall more reliable. I paid way less than that black IS250 for my IS350.

Has anyone taken a look at this?

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/cto/6018749341.html

Seems like all required maintenance has been done

May be a good deal if he did the head gaskets too. No mention of it in the ad though

Nice, pretty decent price. Always liked the JDM front on this gen especially on a 4 Dr sedan (although this one is 2 dr).

Checked this one out when it was for sale by the previous owner. Driver door lock is funky: wouldn't open from the inside if you played with the key funny (sometimes gets stuck). Same with the trunk latch, often gets stuck open. Cluster was also intermittently working. Side skirts falling off, held on with double sided tape and a screw.

2007 Honda Element EX - EDMONTON $10,500 | autoTRADER.ca

This is in AB, but I'm thinking about checking it out.

It has been on the market for ~40 days for some reason (started higher price?) and its still for sale.

1. This is a very, very good price for the car. What could be a catch??
2. have you ever asked someone to take it to a mechanic remotely, and gotten the mechanic to do the inspection without you being there? I would want it to be inspected before I bought a ticket out to see the vehicle.

Thoughts???

snowfarmer 03-12-2017 09:43 PM

Clown shoe, USD$17.5Knot mint, salvage title so not as collectible as an unmolested one but not a bad deal given the asking on some of these things?

https://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/6035719842.html

This is a well kept, rare (1 of 94) BMW M Coupe (The Clown Shoe)
The car has been my baby for almost 3 years and it is time to sell. I have always maintained the car and have added some nice parts to liven the car up.
The car has a S50 manifold, full custom form headers to Magniflow mufflers.
Currently uninstalled that come with the car
Wideband O2 sensor,
24LB injectors
porsche 3.5 MAF and the 3.5 silicone boot to go with it.
Form here you either go with forced induction or add the Cam
also with this car would be a 373 rear diff with dual ear

Why go so far? Here is local 06 with similar mileage for $2K less. Unless there was major revision/update in 07? AB cars are generally cheaper than BC.

2006 Honda Element Automatic EX-P Like New Must See - $8500 (Coquitlam)

snowfarmer 03-13-2017 07:39 AM

If that car has spent anything more than 2 years driving back and forth between Pemberton and Whistler, I can guarantee you that every single job one has to do on it will be a nightmare of rusted bolts, rusted & seized parts. Granted the last 2 winters (before this one) were pretty benign but the amount of mag chloride that the the bottom of that car has seen...:fuckthatshit:

The body may not be rusty but I'd lay money that everything underneath it has seen better days.

Rebuilt title.
Still commands $62.5k.
Does not talk about inspection on possible frame damage.
Does not want you to waste his time.
