Ehhhh sounds like alot of issues for sure, wonder if they were addressed. But this was only a little over a year ago. FS: 2005 Acura NSX widebody - KCSR - THE Kansas City Forum

Well, heard back from the frame shop. Unfortunately the news is not good.

Passenger side frame is crumpled right by the door. There is a crack in the body about 3/16" wide where the frame meets the cowl on the passenger side. This is also one of the spots where the steering rack mounts to the body, which explains the play in the steering. The passenger side of the frame is "several inches" shorter than the driver side. Front passenger side tie rod has some play in it, but not bad. Both rear tie rods are bent. The owner of the shop is supposed to send me photos of the carnage, which I can relay on to any interested parties.

Car will also need a timing belt and water pump. I can find no evidence that they have ever been done. Most also do the clutch at this time, as the engine has to come out anyway. My mechanic quoted me about $2k parts and labor for the whole job.

The car can be fixed but it obviously won't be cheap. The owner is now selling the car on best offer basis, he wants to disclose everything that was found and get out of the car. If anyone is interested, any serious offers will be considered.

All but the last picture in the ad are from the Kansas link. Sounds like the mechanical work was done but I'm curious about that frame damage.

There is a lot of crap salvage / storied 90s / 00s sports cars coming to market. Lack of supply and sellers trying to cash in.

Seems like you have to pay up for quality or go RHD. Or just get a new 86 or WRX / STi with warranty.

RHD doesn't guarantee quality though. Just because it's harder to find the story doesn't mean it's not there.

Fair price for a fair vehicle. Rust free, 6MT 1997 540i. $5000

E55 AMG with 134k km's for $14,750 and will drop price if you do next service yourself.
Very desirable colour combo/options. It's a 2003 though so watch for transmission fluid contamination.

If everything checks out on this one that's quite a deal.

vitaminG 03-17-2017 06:40 PM

Killer deal, although jdm w211 e55 will be available soon. They'll probably flood the market like the w210 did.

Could mean either:
a. The car is ONLY 14 years old, this 03 E55 is such a solid car and in great shape, young people nowadays just want to get the latest & newest to showoff, you're trading that beauty for a GLA45 ??!! are you nutz, that really pisses me off ... or,

b. This car is a 14 year old Benz and he's asking for $14,750 ?!! WTF? It can't be worth more than $9K ... that really pisses me off. If this is the case, I think poster is wrong.

I'm guessing he (or she) meant a.

Considering the CLA was ranked as being 140% worse than the average vehicle, I wouldn't want it or anything related to it.

Easy to l'amour over something in a test drive but that could change after living with it for a while.

I'm old school though. V8 RWD Rocket sedan is all-needs perfection for me.

Really like that 03 E55 posted but it's got to be terrible in the fuel efficiency category, no? Or, once a car surpasses the 350hp threshold, we don't bring this up, it's not a concern? This can't possibly be a DD.

Just watched some of your vids on Youtube .... You got some mad DIY (must save a lot of $$ on the maintenance) AND video skills, very envious of them both.

Vids are really really well done !!

tofu1413 03-18-2017 09:34 AM

469hp... 516lb/ft of torque... heck i remember the specs of this thing from top of my head.

a smaller pulley and a light tune and you'll get a monster. good value for the car, pound for pound.

the old 3 valve/ cyl, twin spark 5.4 motor should be pretty robust.

bcuzracecarz 03-18-2017 09:51 AM

Well don't remember posting that at all, don't St. Patricks day drink and revscene folks lol

snowfarmer 03-18-2017 10:27 AM
