How was France struggling against Honduras in the first half....

They got super lucky with the red card and penalty.

I wouldn't go quite as far as to say they were struggling in the first, two crossbars and generally controlling the game means they certainly were frustrated with not having broken through. The red to be fair was a second yellow, and Palacias? was being a tool - there was no way that wasn't going to be a penalty.

I can't stand the commentators though. Last night the Swiss offside goal call that the guy couldn't comprehend, and not fucking understanding that the first no goal picture from the glt was obviously from Benzema's initial shot and that it was obviously an OG. From the hilarious threads on /sp/ it sounds like commentators all over the world couldn't wrap their heads around it.

How was the red card and pk lucky? Palacios was diving and ramming players like a total douchebag he got sent off by of two yellow cards.

I meant lucky as in Honduras fucked up in the box which caused France to have a huge advantage. I watch soccer throughout the year for the past 10 years ( EPL, La Liga, Ligue 1, Champions League etc)...Im not one of those people that only watches world cup soccer for a month every 4 years and pretends they know everything about the game.

France was having a hard time finding potency in their attack in the first 25 or so minutes of the game. Yes they had more control but Honduras was giving them a hard time by pushing up. As long as France ended up dominating is what matters most though, they would have been much more lethal if Ribery wasn't injured.

StylinRed 06-15-2014 04:05 PM

Awwww poor Bosnia was rooting for them

HonestTea 06-15-2014 04:11 PM

Bullshit, nobody watches Ligue 1 :troll:

I watched that entire game, France controlled the game even before the sending off. Honduras had a couple crosses into the box before that but France was in no way troubled.

Ribery's loss sure hurts but I think this will allow Griezmann to shine who had a terrific season this year.

jackmeister 06-15-2014 05:48 PM

just curious what people use for sports betting? or is that something that we can't discuss?

Hehe 06-15-2014 06:35 PM

What a crappy game for Argentina. (coming from a hardcore fan who grew up there)

It was so boring I pretty much spent the the entire time on iPad while the game was running on TV.

They need to get their shit together if they want to win the cup.

It wasn't luck that allowed Honduras to fuck up in the box. Benzema was simply positioned better to receive the pass and Palacias had to resort to knocking him to put him out of position. Palacias got caught for it fair and square. France wasn't lucky because a foul was called and it resulted in a PK.

I'm surprised someone who watched soccer for 10 years would speak of LUCK when it comes to a obvious foul call. What's next? France was lucky the GK didn't jump the other way to block the PK shot?

Pogba was the French played fouled. Same player that Palacios got into it with for his first yellow...

What I personally do find lucky for France was that the vastly outclassed Hondurans didn't end up actually injuring any of the French players.
