I actually like Baertschi, he looked good in the times I saw him play. He was a former 1st rounder, 13th overall. I felt he didn't get the opportunity to break out. As others mentioned he's only 22 and still developing. Who knows what we would get picking up a 17-18 year old, picks are always hit and miss, mostly miss. Sven might not turn into a superstar but should be a solid middle 6?

Yeah I saw the Petry trade and my first reaction was :fulloffuck: ... what Oilers need is more defense yet they trade away one of their highest potential Dman for more picks, why do they need MORE picks?! My friends in Edmonton are so mad lol ... They are rebuilding all wrong, they have such a great young core but bad management. Should have traded one of their fowards for a solid Top-4 Dman. Yet they are going in reverse... I guess they enjoy being in "rebuild mode" forever...

Petry is pending UFA, told the Oilers he won't re-sign. They're obviously going to miss the playoffs, so may as well get something for him.
