Gonna wake up to Miller & Iginla signed to the Canucks and Edler traded off for a bag of used pucks and a slurpee :bowdown::bowdown:

Not sure why people are so against Iggy coming to Vancouver? Or do they just expect it not to happen?

He has 2 choices, go with a team he thinks might win the cup, or be the leader on a rebuilding team... I guess it all depends on how much he wants a cup to go with his olympic gold medals.

If he DOES want to play in Vancouver I think it would be great for the team. Who is the leadership of the team?

Sedins and Bieksa at the very least. Canucks have an excellent leadership core. People may knock the Sedins for being "soft" (which I think is BS), too Euro, etc etc. but one thing they do well is being good leaders on and off the ice. They're always in the best shape coming into camp (think of how much of a statement it was for Santorelli to beat them in the timed run. It's because it never happens). And they always set an excellent example with their off-ice contributions to the community.

Those guys command the room. Personally I have no issues with that. And to be honest, it's received a boost with Kesler shipped out. Existing Canucks want to play for Hank and Dank, and guys who come in from other teams speak nothing but praise for them.

If Iginla wants to come here (which I doubt), he would add greatly to the already excellent leadership core. Having Iggy in the room with the now-youth-laden Canucks would be akin to what Trevor/Markus/Sundin (yes Naslund and Sundin- they did do something) did for the Sedins and Kesler in order for them to take the next step.

Trevor would never trade Edler, it's his favorite defensive child.

nah 07-01-2014 12:38 AM

Iginla would be awesome with the twins!

AzNightmare 07-01-2014 12:47 AM

I have no problems with Iginla here, but I would assume he's going for the cup right now...

FS1992EG 07-01-2014 12:48 AM

Trade Burrows and we can afford to sign Iginla, and put in an offer for Johansen. Trade for E. Kane would be great for us too.

Sedin Sedin Iginla
E Kane Johansen Kassian.

trancehead 07-01-2014 01:14 AM

if the kids in the farm who are ready to come up: would not want roster space being taken up if they are ready to make the jump

but i would love to see Iginla signed here just to piss off flames fans

dbaz 07-01-2014 01:16 AM

Columbus matches any offer. Jets wants the likes of horvat, shinkaruk+. Add to the fact he has obvious attitude problems.

If St Louis doesn't want him, that should be enough for us to sign someone else. Or ride the tandem goalies and trade one at the deadline for assets.

411ken 07-01-2014 07:01 AM

Maybe the team is hoping that miller wud have a pretty decent record by the trade deadline and flip him to a contender for a pick or prospect for next year ;)

Grandmaster TSE 07-01-2014 07:13 AM

Jason Spezza

To Ottawa:
Alex Chiasson
Alex Guptill
Nicholas Paul
2015 2nd round pick

Tim Budong 07-01-2014 07:26 AM

Lol Ottawa.

Looks like no one wanted Spezza. So Ottawa received garbage

CRS 07-01-2014 07:58 AM

:lol

This makes the Kesler trade look so good.

slicrick 07-01-2014 08:02 AM

2 Captains gone in 2 years for Ottawa, who is going to take over the C there?

If you consider the circumstances, the Kesler trade was nothing short of a miracle.

They basically had ONE team to work with. Chicago can't afford him, and he was going to sit out the season if they didn't trade him. That they were able to get anything decent for him is pretty impressive, IMO

slicrick 07-01-2014 08:07 AM

Only on the PP. The Sedin's need a puck pursuer on their line as they won't get to the puck first with their advancing age.

Iginla is not that guy as he's also not the fleetest of foot.

CRS 07-01-2014 08:16 AM

Oh fuck.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 1m
Oilers sign Benoit Pouliot to five-year, $20 M deal
