The irony is using a NO TRADE clause to demand a trade... I'd love to see what the actual wording on the contract is--pretty sure it involves something along the lines of "For x million dollars a year, I will agree to play for the team for y number of years" and doesn't include "but if I want to leave the team the team will have to cater to my trade destination"

I've always maintained, the NTC is used to help a player maintain control and security in the event that the team wants to initiate a move--that's the 'right' he has earned in exchange for less salary. When the player is tired of playing for the team that is paying him the money and wants out, that isn't part of the 'earned rights' IMO. Sure, players are naturally competitive and want to win it all while they can. Think about that prior to signing the big money long term contract maybe?

Yeah maybe that's the way this business works, but pretty sure not many businesses lets guys get out of contractual agreements nearly that easily and at the same time make restricting demands.

Exactly, try pulling that in other professions like radio broadcasting or acting. If you back out of your agreement then you will get sued or be penalized a hefty amount. The purpose of a No Trade clause is not to benefit a player to jump ship when they no longer wish to play for that organization.
