All the guys you see on the Comets are signed to the Canucks.

The Canucks don't share Utica as an affiliate with another NHL team, however not all players on Utica are Canucks property. Some players are only signed to an AHL contract with Utica and no contract with the Canucks, although rare, AHL teams can also trade with other AHL teams, not involving their NHL teams. Players with NHL contracts with another team may also be assigned to Utica on a loan basis if the Canucks agree, usually happens when the other team has no room on their AHL affiliate for that player and doesn't want to send him to the ECHL. This happened to the Canucks when they were affiliated with the Chicago Wolves, Wolves weren't owned by the Canucks so they didn't make room for all of the Canucks AHL property, a couple players were loaned out to the Sabres AHL team Rochester so they could play in the AHL.

Players on Utica that aren't Canucks property include Travis Ehrhardt, Kent Huskins, Carter Bancks, Wacey Hamilton and Curtis Valk

Which prevents him from playing in the AHL playoffs.

Also prevents him from getting injured in the AHL playoffs, thus lowering his (already low) trade value even more.

Still boggles my mind how he went from one of the best two-way forwards in Philly to a 4th liner-sent-to-AHL forward....

How the mighty have fallen

Richards was the better pick at the time and for awhile was still considered the better player. He also captained a very good World Juniors team and had a very good tournament. Had we drafted him to play in Vancouver, his career likely could've been saved because he wouldn't have crazy party nights with Jeff Carter

jeedee 06-11-2015 11:20 AM

Jeff Carter's career is still going alright... :lol

Carter likes the first line
I mean he'll dabble on the second line if needed but that's it

Richards seems to like the fourth line

...if you know what I mean.

Cody Hodgson likely to be bought out when buy-out window opens later this month :lawl:

He had a decent rookie season (albeit, playing a sheltered "Wellwood" role) and he had a fantastic junior career.

There was no public knowledge about his overbearing father and oversized ego until Gillis threw him under the bus months after the trade.

The hype wasn't completely un-warranted, but it's not uncommon for fans to overhype their own top prospects when they show a little bit of promise (look at the Kassian hype train since we got him and he hasn't established himself as more than a 3rd liner with consistency issues).

Tim Budong 06-11-2015 03:49 PM

The hype was established during the world Jr's with Tarvares or was it Duchene. Some stupid point total

punkwax 06-11-2015 03:51 PM

Tavares.. Hodgson put up more points and according to pundits, should have been named MVP IIRC
