I have that same one in left hand retrieve, make sure keep the internals greased. But I do prefer my 253 over the 300 which is not as wide.

51lb is a great fish

Amazing the record for the queen charlottes is almost 100

Great68 10-06-2015 01:03 PM

51lbs! That's not a Chinook, that's a TYEE!

I did my annual trip in last July, biggest was a 30lb. Total Salmon catch for the trip was 7 Springs, 12 pinks, 3 coho, 4 sockeye.

Here was our best day's catch in 3 hours of fishing:

29, 2x 27's, one 18 and the small pinks. Couldn't keep the pinks off the line the whole trip, fuckers ate all our damn anchovies for the springs.

Since we're talking reels, I want one of these for next year:

Single action is where it's at.
Turns out the factory is just down the street from where I work.

I also use the islander pin for steel head, mines in blue matched with a hmx rod But if you want a more affordable priced one that works great look at the new okuma pins. I've debated getting one but haven't been out as much as I wanted since the new kids were born :okay:

Sorry I just noticed that's the mooching reel

went to the vedder last sunday, tried out a couple new items.
one was a small spinner, half gold half silver. it was getting strikes like crazy, got a couple on the line, 1 got off the line, the 2nd snapped my line and took all my gear haha.

People that use he Luna 300 either hate it or love it. Im not a fan of the 300 but the 253 is very nice.

Heard that as well, I got the luna for significantly less than the calcutta 400b so I couldn't pass it up

nma 10-07-2015 10:31 AM

caught this one out in the vedder last week

I had the calcutta before the Luna and it died on me first day out, went back and got the 253, the dam thing is so versatile, I've caught 40+springs and down to 2lb Jack's, paired with my 9'6 St. Croix drift rod, it's been the perfect combo for all around use on the rivers when I'm drifting for a short time.

What are some good places to fish in November?

mk1freak 10-08-2015 11:05 PM

Get a sock Yo, nice catch Btw :D

Xzecution'R 10-16-2015 10:45 AM

Is last light fishing the vedder productive at all or do you have to be there first light?

Raid3n 10-16-2015 11:21 PM

I'm heading to lafarge tomorrow for some trout :D

bluejays 01-03-2016 09:53 AM

anyone wanna do a revscene steelhead meet up? On vacation for the next little while so hoping to get some fishing in on the weekdays

Hondaracer 01-03-2016 10:17 AM

Went out for sturgeon on Wednesday, water way too cold to get into anything, no bites even

kunoman1 04-13-2018 06:53 AM

Anyone want to teach me a bit about fishing?! Will provide beer!

I've inherited all of my grandfather's gear and am really interested in taking it out

Purely 06-02-2018 08:17 AM

Does anyone have recommendations on where to fish with a Saltwaters (Tidals) licence? Unfortunately, don't have access to a boat..

I recently went to Belcarra and caught some smaller Perch fish, but didn't catch anything at No.3 Richmond and Garry Point.

I would like to go Deer and Buntzen lake, but I'm hesitant to buy a Freshwater licence at the moment since I just purchased the Saltwater licence.

Hondaracer 06-02-2018 08:25 AM

Fresh water is like $35 for the year.

Spoon 06-02-2018 08:36 AM

Anyone have tips for lafarge lake trout? Went 2 times and came home empty handed.

First time use earth worms and that was a bad idea. Second time used power bait, got a few bites but wasn't able to get the fish. :(
