I came to this thread to post this commercial.. Me and my brother would replicate it over and over again, including the call, throwing our hats into the air, and falling off the back of our couch.. This would have been 1985 or so? |
I forgot all about the Boglins, I had a purple one and I remember the box it came in was like a jail. Man we had awesome toys growing up. I also had a sponge football as well that had a monsters face on it called madballs and there is my pet monster as well. This is bringing back so many memories. |

my kid loves these lol can also get those fart bomb bag things you squeeze there. |
lol I remember that you could get those at Spencers Gift's. I had no idea they were still around until I saw it at Coquitlam Centre a few weeks back. Except now it's pretty much turned into a sex toy shop and definitely not kid-friendly. |

Was anyone else here a fan of Rollercoaster Tycoon? I just randomly remembered that game this morning and how much I loved spending time designing and maintaining my parks haha. It was legit a fun way to pass the time. I used to drop patrons who would randomly shit in my park (outside of the washrooms) into the water lol. I also remember hiring a ridiculous amount of janitors to keep the park clean. I guess some people used to love making rollercoasters that shoot up into the sky and just watch everyone plummet to their demise lol... |
I had RCT, Need for Speed 3: HP and The Sims on my PC back in the day. Fun fact: the entire RCT game is written in Assembly (skip to 7:47) |
Was more of a theme park man myself |
Does anyone remember the little rubber wrestlers called M.U.S.C.L.E.s in North America? In japan they were known as Kinnikuman and only existed in flesh coloured sets and were kind of like eraser material. They then came out in North America in a harder rubber/plastic also flesh coloured at first and then rainbow coloured versions as well: https://i.imgur.com/4tua1gU.jpeg I found a mass amount of them from my childhood the other day unpacking things and had some nice nostalgia moments remembering playing with them and building a wrestling ring out of wood and rubber bands for them to fight in. I was trying to think of a cool and unique way to display them in the retro room I’ve been working on, but they're so tiny a shelf didn’t seem ideal, so I decided hey... since they're from Japan, why not something like a Gashapon machine??? I picked up some vintage Gumball machines that were neglected and rusty from a guy in Calgary and decided to disassemble and paint them some fun colours (they were blue and red before): https://i.imgur.com/rXuQ2JV.jpeg I dressed them up with a couple of custom stickers and dumped the M.U.S.C.L.E. figurines in. What do you think? https://i.imgur.com/r27FnZc.jpeg |
that is so dope. I've been thinking of a candy machine, pin ball machine (too expensive and hard to repair)... never thought using a gum ball machine as a display! |
He’s basically a white guy version of a Guangdong hoarder. Although his hoarding is meticulously organized and he’s got some really neat shit in his collection |
