Android 5.0 Lollipop: Material Design in pictures and video | Android Central

Been running the new L-preview for the day on my Nexus 5.
It's pretty damn good even in its slightly incomplete form. Lots of new little features.
Makes me think about not upgrading to Nexus 6.......until reviews come out.

Probably need to see how well (or poorly) the AMOLED screen is calibrated and how the camera is. Kind of disappointed by how big it is though.

!Yaminashi 10-19-2014 09:49 AM

Damn they used an AMOLED screen in the 6? Even more reason to not upgrade

dub.g 10-19-2014 10:01 AM

so the nexus 6 size is closer to the size of iphone 6+.. and in comparison to the note 3, the i6+ is actually taller with thicker bezel

edit:: ok the nexus 6 is fucking huge next to note 4 and its thick

Death to AMOLED!
Srsly though just personal preference

R5x 10-19-2014 08:25 PM

I think as long as the AMOLED panel is calibrated as well as the Note 4's it'll be ok, but if the saturation and color accuracy is as poor as the new Moto X then that would be kind of a deal breaker.

The other major problem with AMOLED is screen burn-in, especially with the persistent nav bars for Google stock roms. It would really suck to ruin a $750+ phone after such a short amount of time.

yep my soft keys burn in...but it's not permanent it goes away after a while.
Still, a scary thought from the CRT/Plasma days.

I had a hunch that's why they moved to an AMOLED display. Good to see at least it'll be put to good use.

I've never had any screen burn on any of my amoled phones. I've gone through lot. Mind you I change my phone about once a year so that might be it.

StylinRed 10-22-2014 05:59 AM

i love samoled screens...at least on my nokias they were great! colour was quite accurate when looking at the photos i've taken on the phone and on my desktop screen

the screens worked extremely well even in direct sunlight (better than my n5 thats for sure)

+ there was the option of the always on screen (showing a clock/image when locked) without eating the battery

I'm still hoping to find a nice android with an amoled + great camera :/

Anyone successfully pre-oreder this morning ?
It wasn't even list in Playstore now.

Or was it a US playstore only thing?

Edit: found my answer on mobilesyrup.

R5x 10-29-2014 01:43 PM

Only US for now. First week of Nov for Canada supposedly. I heard the supply was pretty limited in the US too.

MarkyMark 10-29-2014 01:56 PM

This phone would have been awesome if it wasn't so huge, they should have released a moto x size variant with the same specs

FerrariEnzo 10-29-2014 02:55 PM

I like the Droid Turbo.. too bad its Verizon exclusive...

Im not sure I want to get this... the price wise, it doesnt fit the Nexus line... its normally under $400

Not sure if I should get the white or midnight blue.
Originally wanted blue, but the white looks really nice this time. The silver metal sides on the white are nicer. Just afraid of the back getting dirty or smearing from jeans.

J____ 11-03-2014 01:24 AM

couldn't wait for the 6 so I got a 1+1, but definitely getting the 9 once they become available in china.

!MiKrofT 11-08-2014 01:46 AM

Apparently they'll be available for online order this Wednesday. Good luck to anyone trying to get one. It's probably going to be very limited supply.
