I posted the same question above. The consensus is to downsize. Go look on 1010 for more sizing recommendations, hopefully you'll have better luck than I did with finding a bigger sidewall.

I got my booking in at the Burnaby Brighton location for mid November.

i ended up going with the Si's and ordered through Speed Syndicate. Going in thursday to have them put on, price is the same as most (175ish) , and dealing with Alex is always a pleasure

Also wondering.

Can't seem to find much on the HA31.

Consumer Reports seems to think that the Toyo Celsius is very similar to the WRG3.

I'm also wondering about the new Goodyear WeatherReady, brand new tire for this season. Wonder how it compares.

twitchyzero 10-30-2017 05:59 PM

apparently we could see flurries this week...if the shop is booking into late Nov or longer than a month from now I would just look elsewhere

Vancouver could get hit with some snow on Friday | Vancouver Sun

Teriyaki 10-30-2017 06:24 PM

Yea, but it won't stick. You need a few days of consistent low temp for the snow to stick. I think there's time still.

fliptuner 10-30-2017 09:04 PM

People are getting paranoid over 1 random day of snow. At least it'll get them to be a bit better prepared.

Where's the best place to order some steelies or cheap rims? Both US or CA works... local would be great as I have to mount them anyway.

In-laws got a set of winters coming (YOKOHAMA ICE GUARD IG51V) for their minivan.

i only posted so people can maximize their winter tire investment
or if they've been fooled by the week-long sunshine we've been getting

at least i didn't suggest to stockpile salt in july PJSalt

fliptuner 10-31-2017 07:48 AM

Oh I know. It's not just you. Lots of friends are asking me to help swap their tires cause it's going to snow...for one day. Either way, whatever gets people properly prepped.

Do you have a shovel? :troll:

Indy 10-31-2017 07:59 AM

ugh...its getting too cold for my summers now. I was hoping to not have to change for another few weeks.

I believe it's the cheapest at Costco (I've ordered a set there too). Unfortunately, they are only available online, and they will ship to your place. (just ordered last night, not sure how long is shipping time).

Liquid_o2 10-31-2017 09:33 AM

Likely won't be snow according to the forecasts now. Cold at night, but no snow. But who knows in the end!

Did you order using the masterpass deal?

https://m.costco.ca/masterpass.html

Order two pairs of steelies with two seperate accounts to get $50 bucks off total price

trd2343 10-31-2017 01:15 PM

^Fuck! I'm going to try to see if I can cancel my order and reorder them. Thanks a bunch.

By the way, I've picked up my set of WinterContact SI, only to find out they were manufactured last year year, 3116.

Is that acceptable? Or could I go back to CT and ask for a newer pair?

Night-time lows are forecasted to be consistently below 6 degrees, snow or not it's a about the right time to switch over.

I had one set of 4 show up only to realize that Costco was offering the masterpass deal so had to order another set of 4 and return the first set lol....

AzNightmare 10-31-2017 11:04 PM

There's still time... but if you have summer tires, they're probably going to turn hard like a puck pretty soon. Probably a good time to swap in winter tires on the weekend even if there isn't snow yet.

One year is perfectly fine (Aug 2016). Tires are supposed to have a shelf life of/ expire after 5 or 6 years(depends on the info you can find, i was always told they expire after 5 years at CT), so if you see approx 2012 year and older, you should definitely go back because those should not have been sold.

B!tch 11-01-2017 08:09 AM

Costco on Wilmington was changing tires at 7:30 thus morning.

Can tire has had Shovel, salt and ice melt for last few weeks. No excuse for ppl to say there is no stock.

Acura604 11-01-2017 08:28 AM

the media trolling begins....

Metro Vancouver weather forecast: Chance of snow Thursday and Friday | The Province

It looks like Metro Vancouver is in for its first blast of winter weather.

Environment Canada posted a special weather statement Wednesday morning, saying snow is possible for Thursday night and Friday morning on the south coast.

The agency says an arctic front will arrive on the coast late Thursday, bringing much cooler air. It will also bring snow or mixed rain and snow to many areas.

By Friday morning, small snowfall accumulations are possible for Fraser Valley and Howe Sound.

I ordered on October 8th, arrived on October 19th.

Presto 11-01-2017 02:59 PM

I order on the 18th, and they were shipped on the 23rd to Langley Costco. I am waiting for the arrival notification.

EDIT: just checked tracking, and the tires arrived on the 31st.
