What about CT orders? I ordered on the 24th, waiting for the install appointment.

underscore 11-02-2017 09:08 AM

The order time is gonna be based on the mfr/model/size as much as the store

Nabatron 11-02-2017 09:48 AM

we still have open slots for tire mounting and balancing for next week. We can get most tires in faster than Costco and with competitive prices. Plus you leave without scratches on your wheels =)

Wonder if they're my old ones. Your buddy didn't happen to recently buy an Acura, eh? lol

Got some Hak R2's today. Looking forward to seeing how they do in the snow!

READY for weekend installation! the 'blizzak' white paint will be finessed more tomorrow (clean up edges of letters) although I’m sure the white lettering won’t last.

Just realized my snow tires that I bought are from 46th week of 2014. Is that something I should be concerned about?

twitchyzero 11-04-2017 12:50 AM

^ that wouldn't be okay with me if purchased new even if they're perfectly fine for a few seasons and beyond
I don't think I would fight the crowds for it though...maybe ask for pro-rated refund back for 2-3 years?

5-6 year life on tires, you should be good

Edit: Unless you bought them new.

SOL?
It's not illegal since rubber age is not relevant to the condition of tire. As long as the treads are unworn, it's deemed new.

I bought it from Canadian Tire about 2 weeks ago.

I can go back and cause a stink but I guess they technically have a right to decline any compensation.

fliptuner 11-04-2017 03:09 AM

What's the warranty like? Or did you get some sort of extended warranty? If not (and if you care enough about them being 3 years old and they won't compensate you) is an extended warranty still available to you, since it was a recent purchase? Did you use a credit card?

I didn't pay for any extended warranty, so I just have the basic coverage. I paid by credit card, but to be honest, I didn't have any intention of paying extra on top, which is why I opted out on the extended warranty.

Good Tire shops are not suppose to sell you tires more than 3 years old. But technically they didn’t. This is the 44th week of 2017. Those tires were produced the 46th week of 2014. Sometimes online stores like tire rack, even local stores will have discounted tire section for the near 3 year sizes.

If they have been kept in a warehouse, in store, in a garage etc those tires will be just fine.

Depending on how they're treated, if they're only used half the year and stored indoors the other half then they should last much longer (assuming you don't wear through the tread).

I was just in a similar scenario, CT, but mine were just from last year. Members also have said it should be fine.

Are you going to go back though? Kind of curious to see how CT will handle it. I just also realized not all my tires have the same DOT. One was actually manufactured this year.

Managed to sign up for 2 accounts and got $50 off. Thanks!

snowfarmer 11-04-2017 10:02 AM

sort of off-topic but winter has arrived. On Thursday in Whistler we had the first real snow of the season (and first car in the ditch of the season), as usual an SUV. Hi there Land Rover driver. Pic was taken while we all sat at a standstill waiting for the tow truck to pull him out of the ditch.

naw my buddy has an evo and he bought them a few years ago...funny thing is now he needs new winters lol

Inaii 11-04-2017 12:06 PM

Not sure if this has been asked earlier in the thread, but I have a set of tires I need put on to my current wheels. The places I normally go are booked up right now (for obvious reasons) but I was just wondering is Costco or Canadian Tire will put them on the wheels and back onto the car for me? And if anyone knows their pricing for that. TIA :)

320icar 11-04-2017 01:28 PM

Costco will do non Costco tires. $15 a wheel (includes mounting, balancing, installation) but get ready for lining up at 5am or a 3.5 week waiting list for appointments
