have you seen the line-ups at the tire counter on weekends? try their online appointments
if you have a question I would try calling close to opening or maybe closing or probably faster in-person if you happen to be shopping.

Can confirm. We had the issue a few years ago when we sold them in store. Tones of complaints and returns, so we switched to online only and also manufacturer. Haven’t seen many new steels come in this year so can’t say right now.

I’ve seen this though with just about every generic steelie. Strongly recommend just buying oem take-offs from the base model of your car. Don’t just buy them from the dealership, they usually supply generic winter Steelers too

I've been looking for OEM takeoffs on CL for a while now with no luck. I'm going to check with Kal Tire tomorrow.

^Looking for 5x108 18" :derp: probably easier to buy other wheels and redrill LOL

320icar 10-15-2017 09:00 PM

Lol the line ups are insane. The warehouse opens at 10, the tire shop opens at 8, people start lining up at 6 am. We are going g help the members who’ve been waiting in line for hours over peeps who just call in. Online appointments are automated, so I don’t know why you’d expect a response.

At least for my Richmond warehouse, we’ve been trying to hire staff but coworkers in the warehouse don’t want to come to the tire department as they know how hectic it is. We’re dealing with about 1000 online tire purchases a week (250 sets) and that doesn’t include walk in or special order. Shits insane as our infrastructure was never intended to do these numbers. First world problems...

 do they ship them to china cuz theres definitely less than 250 cars with winters in ricemond

twitchyzero 10-15-2017 09:22 PM

could be wrong but doubt even other locations have winters as a majority of the installations

320icar 10-15-2017 09:26 PM

^^ lots are just the tires that were on sale, but lots of people have been buying snows. It’s nice to see. I even put snows on a cayenne the other day!! First time for everything LOL

AzNightmare 10-15-2017 10:46 PM

Reading above, it sounds like Costco is a gong show to buy tires from...
I have a set of oem rims and I need to buy 4 snow tires and get them mounted.
Would Kal Tire be a better place?

Badhobz 10-15-2017 10:50 PM

It is a gong show there. But it’s the only one nearby. I wish Richmond had 2 Costco’s.

AzNightmare 10-16-2017 01:06 AM

Is it just the Richmond one? I wouldn't mind going to the Burnaby one if it's less crazy.

320icar 10-16-2017 01:47 AM

They are all fairly busy but right now (sales numbers) Richmond is ranked #1 in western Canada

Go to Willingdon or Brighton (Production Way) - way less crazy than Richmond. Richmond is worst location to deal with.

The guys at Brighton did a great job, got me in and out less than 1 hour!

Badhobz 10-16-2017 08:55 AM

They changed their hours now at Richmond. 6am!! I went this morning to lineup at 9am and it was full bays. Apparently they started this last week. Website still doesn’t reflect this.

^320icar must be driving a jeep SRT... think of the OT lol

Badhobz 10-16-2017 09:01 AM

I think if you bring them a fun cAr it might brighten their day instead of the usual civic Corolla bmw Mercedes boring shit.

320icar 10-16-2017 10:33 AM

Fuuuuuuuck I didn’t realize they started opening so early now. Last few weeks I’ve been working the late shift til 11pm, as other departments are short and I have lots of other skills around the warehouse, so I go inside after the store closes.

And yes it’s been overtime every single day. Head office ain’t happy, so even though we close at 8:30 I believe they are scheduling two or so staff til 10pm to finish up (or at least clean, restock, pull orders for the next day etc if finished on time lol)

Indy 10-16-2017 10:47 AM

so i had a set of Continental ContiProContact all seasons with 4.5mm tread laying around for the WRX and I threw those on. Am i going to be effed? Should I even bother trying to go out when the first snow hits?

The other car is a tiguan with 1 season old WS80's but I hate that car.

not sure if just thanksgiving sunday but Willingdon had no spots left in the parking lot at 3pm...and of course full bays in the tire centre but it seems standard affair...they told me wait would be 90 minutes and it was spot on. The online appt system works well.

they could easily re-open the old grandview highway spot 5 min away and still be making hand over fist.

gilly 10-16-2017 12:50 PM

Yah Costco Burnaby seemed quite busy this past weekend. There was a line at the tire sales. If they aren't picking up your calls, I would go in person and make the appointment. That is what I did. Might as well do some shopping while you are there lol.

AzNightmare 10-16-2017 01:26 PM

Are these people lining up to purchase and install?
I'm interested in the WS80's but I have to order them and it takes 5-10 days to deliver.

If the phone lines are backed up, does that mean I should go in person to order, and then come back when it's delivered?

320icar 10-16-2017 01:27 PM

Just order the tires at Costco.ca. No different than ordering hem in store. They get shipped to the warehouse and once received they call or email you or wtv and set up and appointment. No need to stand in the big line if you can do it online

I was at the Richmond location, the phones were ringing off the hook. No one answered any phones calls the 25min I was there.

snowfarmer 10-16-2017 05:54 PM

Those tires are done at 2/32 tread depth so there's not much life left in them. If I was in your shoes I wouldn't be taking them out in the snow, especially when you have a Tiguan with winter tires. I hear you on the lack of SUV love, I hate when I have to drive my wife's SUV anywhere.

Is Costco's 5-10 business day delivery accurate?
There's an asterisk beside it, but I can't find any "fine print" related to that *.

Better not be something like, during busy winter season, winter tires can be backlogged 2 months, etc.
