Spoiler!

SkinnyPupp 11-29-2014 05:37 PM

Only the first batch of storm troopers were clones

DragonChi 11-29-2014 07:53 PM

I'm guessing you mean the batch up until Anakin turns into Darth Vader. In the clone wars show they keep pumping them out.

GLOW 11-29-2014 08:43 PM

ya i was thinking it made the saber look like a large 2 handed sword as well. i always wondered why they never had a cross guard and they finally added one on

scottsman 11-29-2014 08:48 PM

For the star wars noob, the new installment takes place after episode 6 correct?

Is there a story line, info to read online about how it all fits together?

rsx 11-29-2014 08:57 PM

The hilt would make for nice light saber duels, I think. Imagine parrying an attack and extending the hilt for a head strike.

Yes this happens after the 6th episode. I read somewhere there are 12 or 15 in total. Man, we're all going to be so old when they're finally all released. Even then, I think they'll keep going with the story.

i think darth maul's double bladed lightsaber was the best

Yeah IIRC up until that point they were Clone Troopers. After that, they became Imperial Storm Troopers

All the "expanded universe" has been "revoked" by Disney. I think anything that happens after Episode VI is wiped until the next movies come out. Anything that happened around Episode I such as current comics and cartoons still count.

So when you go to see Episode VII, you'll be seeing it with eyes as fresh as the hardest core Star Wars nerd. Because everything they know about never really happened.

In concept, it would make for cool duels. And I agree, it's kinda cool...

The problem is in the design of the lightsaber hilt. The right angle the hilt creates with the blade on a traditional longsword is meant to protect the hand when your opponent's blade slides down towards your hand, and is stopped by the hilt.

But if you look (not even) closely, that right angle is made from the base/handle itself, and not the light blade. So if the opponents light saber slid down the blade towards your hilt, it would simply lop off one side of the hilt, and possibly your hand.

More accurate version of what the film will be like.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens' crazy rolling ball droid is a practical effect, not CGI | Polygon

StylinRed 12-13-2014 03:57 AM

i really appreciate that Abrams didn't go all CGI in this

SkinnyPupp 12-13-2014 04:03 AM
