I dont know if it's just me, but whenever I hear a car alarm go off I always run out and check on my car.

This morning I heard a car alarm(similar to mine) go off, woke up threw on a sweater and sprinted out the door to see my fender caved in and a flatbed with a huge excavator reversing out and up the hill. Freaking out in disbelieve, I ran down to get my key's and phone, dial 911 get in my car and prepare to Vin Desiel the fuck out of him. I thought he was trying to drive away cause he proceeded even after we made eye contact as I was running out. Turns out he was just driving up the hill to let the car behind him out. Whatever he rolls back and I reverse back into my spot. I was too pissed to talk to him so waited till either cops or roommate came; got his info, license plate and a video walking from his car to mine. blah blah blah ICBC claim made, looking up body shop to do estimate atm. If anyone has a recommendation let me know. Vancouver area or burnaby/richmond.

Sorry to hear.

Based on past threads a lot of people say Automind, though I don't have any personal experience with them.

Just booked my appointment, thanks. Just called in a claimed with ICBC, Dude want's to pay it out him self since it was a work vehicle. I just looked up and the single headlight cost $800, His wallet is going to hurt but fuck him cause I have a work meeting 2 hours away and my fender+liner is caved in.

If he wants to pay for the repair so his premiums don't go up, he can repay ICBC once they fix you car.

This. I'm assuming it didn't do much damage to his truck, so there's no difference to him if he pays ICBC back for your claim, or you. The only difference is one way ICBC handles everything, the other you take all the risk.

Since it's all bolt-on stuff anyways I was going to do it myself and keep the labour money. He said once I get an estimate let him know and he'll pay up front in cash asap. ICBC told me if he doesn't then I can just got through them instead. I genuinely would feel bad if he lost his job over this, he was at least honest and willing to make it right.

Is there any cons of doing it this way? Im going to write on a formal agreement for both of us to sign.

thumper 01-27-2015 12:03 PM

hopefully you can find a good resolution to all of this and not have to deal with icbc. it's going to suck having this accident claim on your car when it's time to sell :(

Grim 01-27-2015 01:48 PM

white is a hard color to match..
automind in burnaby does it best imo.

VR6GTI 01-27-2015 02:42 PM

Would try my best to avoid automind burnaby

KDMofo 01-27-2015 03:56 PM

Got quoted $4200 for repairs, god damn headlights cost $1500 from dealership. I reported the estimate to ICBC and they said they're unsure if they want to repair that car for $4200. I really want to keep my car.

Any other reputable shops? Going try burrard autostrasse tomorrow.

LP700-4 01-27-2015 04:00 PM

Genesis coupes still go for 15k ish don't they? Why wouldn't they want to repair it

KDMofo 01-27-2015 04:03 PM

Cbb rates them from $9,000-$14,000

Fastrack in Richmond.

When I worked in Kits, the dealership I worked at dealt with Burrard Autostrasse a few times and they seem to do a pretty good job.

jjson 01-27-2015 04:19 PM

AK Auto Works?

fliptuner 01-27-2015 04:27 PM

KDM, if he's going to pay up front, a rough average of all your quotes, sure. Otherwise, let him pay ICBC back.

Why?

They did 1/4 panel/bumper repair on one of my cars and the paint/blend isn't noticeable (and it's a metallic base/pearl). Posted regular progress pics and were on time.

knight604 01-27-2015 05:15 PM

Twinstar collision bro.

320icar 01-27-2015 06:02 PM

Why would icbc write off s genesis over that kind of money. That seems crazy

a00755836 01-27-2015 06:24 PM

one headlight cost $1500? wow...
