can't believe they are even considering not repairing it. Looks like it just needs a fender and a headlight.

Lol 4200 bucks?

Exactly what is damaged on the car? Is it just the headlight and the fender? No damage underneath?

If so get the guy to give you $4k, buy the headlight yourself online, for like 300 bucks, and get a new fender, and then install it all and just take it to get painted.

Total cost for you 1500 max. Put the other 2500 to some other use.

Any other reputable shops? Going try burrard autostrasse tomorrow.

on ebay i see oem genesis left headlight foing only under two hundred usd on ebay for a good used one...

Dealer cost on the light doesn't matter if there's a jobber part available or they can get it from a wrecker.

kakucaekz 01-27-2015 10:11 PM

Another vote for FastTrack. They dealt with my last ICBC claim, and it was was a super painless process. Johnny took care of the car real well.

Call Autostrasse first, they probably wont take your car. They are pretty particular about the car they fix.

Rich city did a good job on my buddys pearl g37.

That headlight is the base/premium one, mine is the GT trim that requires the one with hid projectors.

What are you options if theye don't want to fix it.

KDMofo 01-27-2015 10:45 PM

I'm not even sure, we're highly doubting that they will decline getting it fix as it's just aesthetics. If they do I'm going to be choked cause there hasn't been a 2.0t in GT trim being sold in the past 6months.

This is what needs to be done - small bumper damage repair, headlight replace, fender replace, fender liner replace, fender repaint, blending around fender(door, bumper, hood) wheel refinish, wheel paint, 4 wheel alignment and some other labour.

If he does pay the 4k outright I have other plans that will indeed save me some money but we don't know if there's any more internal damage. Ide rather save the headache and just let icbc do everything than worry about this kind of stuff.

320icar 01-27-2015 11:13 PM

dude,if they do write it off, let them. buy it back at a severely discounted price and then fix the car with the rest of the money. you should still be up funds and yes your car will have a rebuilt title, but you know what happened and you know its not a big deal.

westopher 01-27-2015 11:44 PM

I don't understand how a car worth 9-14k gets written off over a fender and a headlight. What the fuck am I missing here? I thought the repairs had to be at least 75% of vehicle value to write it off.

320icar 01-27-2015 11:51 PM

old icbc scam of writing off perfectly good cars and having "friends" of the claims adjuster buy them for pennies?

they have been caught doing that so many times

jtrinh 01-28-2015 12:04 AM

Yeah, don't go to Automind Burnaby and do go through icbc! I've had to get them to redo my car one too many times..

ICBC thinks it's an S2000 or something...

they also look at the value of the car if it was sold for "parts"

10k+ repair for my evo. market value was 14ish. apparently the car was only 3k or so if it was sold as parts.

its ridiculous. :seriously:

KDMofo 01-28-2015 11:18 AM

Decided to go ICBC after he flaked this morning for a meeting to discuss estimates. Have to wait for a couple days for adjuster to call me, anyways of getting my car in the shop ASAP?

Also if anyone was wondering what hit my car, it was this. Im just thankful it didn't gobble up my entire car.

This! It took ICBC over 4 months to decide if they were going to fix my car or not. Thank goodness I had receipts for $20k+ and they even still tried to buy me out. Their payout value couldn't touch the replacement value of the car. One the worst experiences I've ever dealt with. I have a feeling I'll be complaining once the repairs are done anyway so it's still a long road ahead.

OP: If you are going through ICBC then you're on their schedule unfortunately.

What kind of car was this?

zilley 01-29-2015 06:54 PM

I dunno, but knowing how scumbag people could be nowadays, I would rather let ICBC deal with everything, and not even try to do labour myself.

fuck the complications.

I could've sworn the recent changes closed that loophole.
