Some games arent as fun with two people(even if it says it can support 2), like Ticket to Ride was fun, but would be much better with more than 2 ppl.

Some of my favourites card games:
Saboteur
Family Buisness
Dominion
This one is kind of like playing TCG.
All these games are pretty quick. 30 mins at most.

A cool one to check out is Boss Monster. 1-4 players, and each game is about 30 mins. | I have Coup with expansion (it adds an awesome new dynamic to the game) and Resistance Avalon.
I'll look up Boss Monster, it sounds like fun. Too bad it's only up to four players though. We usually have a min. of five people playing on most nights. Quote:

I also recently started playing board/card games as well.
Catan, Avalon, and Bang! are pretty fun. Looking to try out munchkin after watching tabletop. | Me too. I don't like games lasting longer than an hour.
Bang is pretty fun, my friend got it over the holidays and Munchkin's is super fun too. I played a lot of DOTA when I was younger and Munckin's reminds me of that for some reason. I guess Munchkins would most resemble Pokemon I guess.

Just pick up Bang! The bullet edition yesterday and had my first game with 5 people last night, super fun looks like we will be playing this game for a while now. Still searching for the person casual/strategy game for 2 ppl when it's just me and my gf around. Co-op games sounds like a fun way to spent the evening with my SO. Any suggestion for good co-op games that is scalable from 2 people to 5+?

Anyone else enjoy Mousetrap as a kid
I enjoy Monopoly and Risk but agree they take too long.

+1 for monopoly, nothing like getting into a fist fight with other family members over simulated financial hardship!
Cards Against Humanity can be fun, but you have to play with a group of clever people. If you've ever played with a bunch of dullards the card that wins every time is simply the most lewd. IE: I would expect to laugh hard at a well played "poorly time holocaust jokes" card, some people don't understand what this is but they laugh really hard with the "smegma" card regardless of what it's paired with.

Axis and Allies is quite fun, albeit long drawn. But if you're into military strategy it can be very rewarding.

It says that will then make the NSFW deck(40 cards at start of kickstarter) 56 cards hopefully. And that the normal deck(56 cards) + nsfw deck(56 cards) = support 8 players!
Bought 1 instead of 2 games, looking forward to this.

Makerspace Nanaimo has board game night every Friday if anyone is interested. Come around 7 PM. We have played settlers, Ticked to ride, Empire builder, Pandemic a great game where you act as a team, cash a catch a real fun game, and Agricola. Agricola was the hardest game we have played. It takes way to long to learn and it very slow to play.

Anyone play Dead of Winter? Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game | Board Game | BoardGameGeek
Good reviews, but it's expensive and hard to find, so I would like some thoughts before buying it

on the topic of board games, does anyone know of any good board game cafes or bars out in the city? somewhere me and my buddies can head to while chilling outside?
We've been to Joy-G on Alexandra Road, and their board game selection is horrible to be honest. They only had Settlers of Catan, and the rest are Chinese language games. Seems more like a Mahjong parlor to be honest.
I've heard of Stormcrow Tavern, but I'm not sure how they look at people who stay for a long duration.

If you want some more of the uncommon board games, try Pizzeria Lucida by Rogers Arena. They serve pizza (obviously) and have an assortment of board/card games available. If the owner isn't too busy, he'll even teach you how to play some of them.

I've heard of Stormcrow Tavern, but I'm not sure how they look at people who stay for a long duration. | A Store on Main st. called Strategies has a great variety of board games. Some board and card games I would suggest to check out is Wearwolf; usually used at parties as a drinking game (similar to Mafia), Betrayal at House on the Hill and Pandemic.
