Maybe it was a cost to profit reason?

I'm thinking they upgraded to "premium" materials to address all the whining about plastic, so they were forced to cut SOMETHING in order to keep a certain profit margin.

Glad I have my S5, & am a happy owner
Maybe they'll learn from the S6, & bring back the card slot, & removable battery.
;)

Personally I don't think any of these are dealbreakers. I've been a Note/Nexus user for years. I've never needed to replace my battery nor needed more than 32GB storage. Not everyone needs those things. That being said I've already pre-ordered 4xS6 and 2xS6 Edge for work. Currently in like spot 13/16.

mos_skeeto 03-06-2015 10:35 AM

I put a microsd in my phone and leave it there for its lifespan. Removable storage isn't a requirement for me since new phones have so much built in space already. In fact I kinda like it so I don't have to move stuff back and forth. The people that are butt hurt in some android forums I go to are complaining that the $ of the device is higher since they can't throw in a cheapo card. By the time my battery is crap it's an excuse to get a new phone anyway :)

For some reason, the lollipop camera does not allow me to save photos / videos in SD card directly. I can install 3rd party app to correct that, but I will just leave it there.

Need to stop relying on SD nowaday. I had 16gb in the beginning, filled up with photos and songs, then bought 32gb later, also filled up with photos and songs that I never touch. Now it goes the same with the new 64gb. Will set up the NAS properly, so I can free up the storage.

Also micro USB drives are getting popular, just in case you need to load stuff into your phone.

As long as the Note 5 still has a SD slot I'll stick with Samsung

djstyles 03-23-2015 12:45 PM

If anyone wants to go play with the S6 and S6 edge they have demo units at best buy. Using my note 4 and s6 side by side I'm shocked at how much smoother and faster the S6 is .

guurl 03-25-2015 10:38 PM

the edge looks nice but wondering how they will make cases for it . will just stick to the s6. upgrading from the s4 since i felt like the s5 wasn't much of a diff

Canadian Rider 03-27-2015 03:16 AM

Played with the demo units today at futureshop in coq. I was wanting the edge but it feels like the screen is smaller then the normal one.

dat_steve 03-27-2015 10:25 AM

anyone have a lead on the actual release date?

Eatman 03-27-2015 11:21 AM

^I think it was mentioned somewhere April 10th

Canadian Rider 03-27-2015 03:32 PM

Galaxy S6 And Galaxy S6 Edge Hide Samsung's Broken Promise - Forbes

welp, looks like samsung lied about the bloatware... there are 56 preloaded apps which most likely won't be uninstallable.... fuckers

terkan 04-01-2015 08:09 AM

meh if the preloaded apps are just office softwares whatsapp and facebook.. i can deal with it since i need them anyways

dat_steve 04-09-2015 08:20 AM

how hard would it be to get the s6 without reserving one?

Knowing Samsung I don't think it will be too hard to walk in to a store and pick one up. Especially since people are more hype about the S6 Edge.

!MiKrofT 04-10-2015 12:57 AM

Hmm I wonder if I'll get any tomorrow. I pre-ordered 6 each of the 32gb regular and edge models. We were in under the 40 mark when I did the business pre-order.

dat_steve 04-10-2015 12:23 PM

walked into the rogers in Bentall and picked one up with no resos

Cwift 04-10-2015 09:01 PM

Anyone pick up an edge? What's your first impressions like? Pre ordered a 128gb from wind, was probably going to just take my deposit back cause I wanna see what Samsung is going to bring for the note 5.

Teriyaki 04-10-2015 10:52 PM

Saw a coworkers new S6 Edge. Screen is pretty, but the curve is honestly useless. Makes the usable screen space look smaller. Not worth the premium at all.

Groot 04-11-2015 01:01 AM

Coming from a note 4, it feels so weird holding onto it lol

BrRsn 04-11-2015 11:14 AM

s6 edge makes the screen look smaller than the non-curve imo

Picking up the regular S6 later on today hopefully, pretty excited as the last premium phone I had was the S3

Anyone see the Samsung VR headset that mimics the Oculus Rift? I think it'll be awesome combined with the 4K screen on the S6 -- definitely buying one once it comes out just for pure stoner luls and porn

this thing -- for the Note 4 but releasing S6 variant soon:

bobomB 04-11-2015 02:33 PM

I just picked up the regular S6 today. Obviously, a big change from my old S2...
Nothing too special , performance and tech is just up to date . btw, anyone know where to get 'clear' view covers? I noticed Visions had S view covers

mr_chin 04-11-2015 04:33 PM

S6 doesn't seem very appealing with the non-removable battery and missing sd card slot. Even though the sd card is not a big loss, it's still nice to have one, don't know why they would take it out.

guurl 04-11-2015 05:30 PM

how much did it cost you guys to pick it up through fido? i reserved an s6 it's almost ready
