So jelly strykn. I'm gonna be switching from the iPhone 6 as well.

twitchyzero 04-19-2015 10:42 PM

if anyone's nerdy enough to care...this pretty article explains why S6/S6 edge has the most advanced internals bar none and is a year ahead of the curve of snapdragon 810/apple a8x/intel silvermont/tegra X1

Exynos 7420: First 14nm Silicon In A Smartphone - The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge Review

Gucci Mane 04-20-2015 11:35 AM

picked up the s6. so happy to have android again..

Aznflipmode 04-25-2015 01:38 AM

Hey guys. If you need cases and screen covers for the s6 and edge. I got some. Pm me.

I have the edge and so far no complaints. Its fasssst and the screen is awesome. Camera is pretty sick too especially at low light. Beats iphone 6 for sure.

Make sure when you gjys are renewing your contract, get fido/rogers to waive the $25 hardware upgrade fee. They can easily waive it. :)

Zheff 04-28-2015 07:01 PM

I'm still using my S4. Contract expiring in 2 months.

I don't know which one to get...S6 or S6 Edge!

!LittleDragon 04-28-2015 08:05 PM

Anyone else's Edge can't hold a GPS lock? It'd lock onto like 10+ satellites for a while and then drop them all.

Also, Google Maps doesn't speak street names. Cleared caches for maps and TTS as well as full reset as it's a new phone but same thing. Even when it's the first app executed after a reset, it still doesn't read street names. My S3 was doing that since maps version 9?

Those are the two things that bug me right now... lol, might get it exchanged at Telus if GPS turns out to be a hardware issue.

trollguy 04-30-2015 12:48 PM

yeah mine often keeps searching for GPS signals. doesnt bother me too much though as I still get good battery life out of it!

so far very happy. came from a nexus 5 which died .. perhaps a blessing in disguise as this phone is amazing so far. even with touchwiz. my first instinct was to root it and find a vanilla lollipop rom.. but it's been 2 wks now and i actually dont mind the touchwiz. camera is fantastic too..

Zheff 04-30-2015 08:51 PM

Which one did you guys get? S6 or S6 edge?

Wonder if its worth that extra hundred bucks for the edge...

djstyles 05-01-2015 12:51 PM

Got my gold S6 yesterday and was definitly worth the wait. Its silvery gold in bright light and real yellowy gold in dim lighting. Phone is much faster in day to day operations compared to my Note 4. Battery life is mediocre but I knew that going in.

!MiKrofT 05-02-2015 10:08 PM

The edge is kinda gimmicky. I only chose it cause it's my work phone so I picked the more expensive one.

They visual experience that the Edge gives you is definitely worth the money. People think that success of the Edge is dependant on the features available for the Edge function and the Notifications that can be displayed on the Edge.

However, the Edge itself gives the user a visual experience on every screen unique to almost any other phone. This is valuable for someone who has been using the Galaxy S series phones for awhile and is tired of the visual experience that Samsung keeps pumping out with their same ol' Touch Wiz.

the "same ol' touch wiz" doesn't exist on this phone. its been toned down quite a bit. i've hated samsung devices forever because of touch wiz and shitty feeling plastics. they've finally managed to hit the ball out of the park with this phone. only real downside to the phone is the battery life. its mediocre at best but the turbo charging makes up for it.

!MiKrofT 05-03-2015 11:09 AM

You mean the visual distortions on the sides? I turned off all the edge features actually. It definitely feels nice for edge swiping but I wouldn't say that the visual experience is definitely worth it.

VISUALLY, there are barely any differences from the TouchWiz UI that came on my Galaxy S5 compared to the S6. Same icons, layout and fonts and drop down menus..."

Same ol touch wiz" is on this phone.

djstyles 05-03-2015 01:44 PM

The version of TW on the S6 is much smoother/faster than the versions on my Note 4 and my old S5 and Note 3. On another note, battery after a couple of days is MUCH better than expected.

asian_XL 05-03-2015 10:12 PM

Probably the first S6 Edge battery explosion.

Pics don't work.

djstyles 05-04-2015 02:33 PM

There has been news about Samsung using different camera sensors for the S6. One being the Sony IMX240 sensor and the other being the Samsung ISOCELL sensor. My Fido gold 64gb S6 shows an Isocell sensor and my buddies black 64gb S6 shows the Sony sensor. Which one do you guys have?

To check enter *#34971539# in the phone dialer then go to "ISP version check"

Eatman 05-04-2015 04:04 PM

^sony for me

djstyles 05-05-2015 10:54 AM

SamMobile did a comparison test with the two sensors. Results here http://www.sammobile.com/2015/05/05/...6-and-s6-edge/

Gucci Mane 05-05-2015 11:25 AM

i've got the iscocell camera.

terkan 05-05-2015 01:46 PM

lol.. the difference between the 2 camera for the average user is negligible.. if you are a photo/camera enthusiast.. then you might notice a difference.. it's funny how ppl are making a big fuse over it online lol

!LittleDragon 05-05-2015 05:15 PM

Yeah, I'm more concerned my GPS don't work. I've been bugging my Telus rep for a replacement but apparently the white 64gb Edge is in short supply.

djstyles 05-07-2015 12:49 PM

Welp, time for me to get a case . Fell out of my pocket when I was sitting down and the rear glass is now cracked. In case anyone was in the same predicament, replacement glass backs are $120+tax for parts and labour at the Samsung repair center. If your so inclined to DIY around $35 bucks for the back on ebay.

trollguy 05-08-2015 01:09 PM

sony camera here., that link comparing the two.. some photos the sony is nice than the iso and vice versa.. i do agree w/ the comment that the sony pics are warmer..

so... my camera had dust behind the lens which created a blurry spot.. was referred to the samsung service center in richmond whom cleaned it for me for free udner warranty. also replaced my front screen for some reason.

before dropping it off they suggested backing up my photos, etc as there will be a risk of it being wiped. yup, phone was wiped. in fact, when i started it back up, it was like the first day of unpackaging it- older OS included.

wonder if that's their way to see if you've rooted it and void warranty?
