Too sad and preoccupied with the Canucks playoff implosion to watch this game but at least now theres the caps to focus on.
Beats watching baseball in the summer
How'd the game go? Did Techera slot in?

Techera got in, was largely ineffective for his 10 minutes compared to Rosales.
Game was pretty poor considering we scored in the first minute then Laba got a two yellows in 8 minutes before the end of the first half.

All aboard the Caps bandwagon. I don't want to hear anything Canucks related until next April (unless we trade for Crosby).
Despite the loss yesterday I'm feeling confident for the season. Would love to see them go far in the CCL as well like how Montreal is doing. This is by FAR the deepest team we've ever assembled...

Yea the game was pretty flat, the back to back yellows killed any forward progress we were making. Rest of season looks pretty promising tho

lol was reading how Morales got a yellow for his goal celebration...one does not simply remove the corporate element of celebrations.
hopefully Techera improves and meshes in well, it seems like Rivero is starting to cool down a little bit too so it'd be nice if the forward group could start producing more
Did Manneh slot in? i rmember he was a force coming off the bench previously.
picked up a long sleeve away jersey from last year at Winners of all places. Last i checked it was all larges left but ymmv. $50... |

Rivero has been figured out and teams are doubling him hard so he doesn't get space, but his cross to Morales was perfect to set up the goal.
I saw the jerseys at my winners too... I'm a sucker for the shield logo though and I'm gonna hold out for the equipment sale and get the team worn stuff. As a game day staff member I get first crack after the office people. |

yeah the new shield logo is pretty good...gotta wonder if they'll release ones with the CCL patch at some point too
all good though cus i've always wanted a long sleeve
i did pick up the newer away jersey recently too when Sportchek had scratch and save promo with the TA
i'll see if i can swap it out for a home one
when is the equipment sale usually?
Sucks for the Impact, looks like Bush is suspended for the last game of the Final. Pretty shitty tending situation for them. It'd be awesome if they pull off the upset though Champions League: CONCACAF confirms Montreal Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush suspended for 2nd leg | MLSsoccer.com
Not sure what the broadcast schedule will be like but it'd be pretty stupid if this isn't on TSN1. Raptors are out, no NHL games...how the fuck could anything else take priority
But knowing TSN i wouldn't be surprised if this isn't televised |

Whitecaps played well once they were down to 10 men. Rather than folding, they kept pressing, especially in the final 10. DC had everyone back and Caps couldn't get a clean shot through. Unfortunate that they hit the post, they deserved the tie.
Also, why hasn't Earnshaw played since that goal he scored earlier in the season? Or am I missing something? He played for WFC2 yesterday so he isn't injured.

Mattocks is playing well, and Rivero isn't going to be benched for some time unless fitness or injury come into play. However, compared to the other two, Earnie has experience and that ability to find space, but not with the same pace as Rivero.

Didn't Robbo say something about Earnshaw eventually transitioning into coaching with the Caps or another team? Something about his time here mostly to take in more coaching responsibilities.
Found it. Quote:

				EARNSHAW WANTS TO COACH
Robert Earnshaw has a contract with the Caps and a leg up on life after soccer, too.
The veteran Welsh striker adds experience, depth, and another proven finisher to Carl Robinson’s team, which has so far relied on Octavio Rivero for all three of its goals.
And once Earnshaw, 33, is done playing, he wants to go into coaching. Robinson, his former Wales teammate, is helping him get the necessary hours for his qualifications.
It’s an opportunity Robinson had in New York as a player-coach under Hans Backe, and one he’s offered to Earnshaw and Mauro Rosales in Vancouver, where the Caps have a USL Pro team full of players who could benefit.

Philadelphia is a pretty bad team, so the game could have been more lopsided than it was. It really should have been 5-0 considering the chances we had.
It should be an interesting next 2 weeks with all of the games coming up.

Well, it looks like the Whitecaps are in a bit of a slump. Based on some of the blogs I follow, some people are starting to question Robbo's tactics and personnel choices. I will say that the ref in last night's game was pretty poor, particularly on Morales' free kick.
The talent on the team is there, but they can't seem to get the timely goals now. Is it bad luck, unreasonable expectations, or coaching?

Based on some of the blogs I follow, some people are starting to question Robbo's tactics and personnel choices. I will say that the ref in last night's game was pretty poor, particularly on Morales' free kick.
The talent on the team is there, but they can't seem to get the timely goals now. Is it bad luck, unreasonable expectations, or coaching? | You do have to consider that Morales played the full 90 against Edmonton, and with Rosales making the plays, the entire Whitecaps attack changed because he doesn't have the same vision. However, there is a bit of a trend where soft calls are made on Whitecaps players, yet the same action by opposition was ignored. At the same time, starting 11 could use some work, but theres a lack of useful depth at right wing, Hurtado has fallen out of favor with the staff apparently.
