Police say it's a bizarre case of jealousy and of the cultural pressures of conceiving male offspring.
The story unfolded in February 2013, when the parents of a seven-week-old boy took their wailing baby to the emergency department at the Richmond, B.C., hospital.
The doctor examining the baby found something blocking both his ears and it was later identified as super glue that needed to be removed through painstaking surgery.
Mounties — who are only just releasing the details of the case now — say the baby's aunt, Wei Wang, was charged and convicted in a B.C. court of aggravated assault last December.
Wang, a 30-year-old Chinese National, was sentenced to four months in jail and two months' probation.
According to a search warrant from August 2013, the baby lived in a home with his parents and their extended family.
Several family members claimed sister-in-law Wei Wang was jealous of Baby Y because she had two daughters.
They said in Chinese culture males were valued higher than females, and that Wang allegedly said she wouldn't receive any inheritance if she didn't produce a son.
The victim's father also claimed he'd found a needle stuck in his son's car seat a few weeks earlier.
RCMP Cpl. Chris Tarasoff says the case was extremely sad and emotionally trying for investigators, but the best result that they could have hoped for was that the child is expected to make a full recovery.

In all seriousness.... this punishment was way too lenient. Abusing an infant child, especially in a premeditated way and for these culturally backward reasons, is seriously messed up. I hope this bitch gets some good old-fashioned "prison justice"; I imagine convicts don't take too nicely to child abuse...

in canada, women are valued equally as men.
is it offside to suggest that this person, if not a canadian citizen, should be deported so she can practice her crackerjack ways in a place where it is more in line with cultural norms (not saying in china that this is cool, but you should know what i mean)? Clearly she is not interested in Canadian values and is not a benefit to society?
now, if she has mental issues, i retract the above, as she clearly needs help.
mind you, if we could deport people based on not being a benefit to society, there would be a lot of people (both canadian and otherwise) being shipped out!

I don't see why immigrants who have proven themselves to be immoral, dangerous, and a burden on our society shouldn't have citizenship revoked. We don't allow criminals to enter our country (in theory) so why should we allow them to stay? Truthfully though, someone with such malice and hatred behind their actions I would support putting a bullet in their head long before I think any country should have to deal with them.

As a new father of a 9 week old, if anyone did this to my child, the RCMP would need to charge me with assault after the I beat the living shit out of the perpetrator, family or otherwise.

4 months is not enough for premeditated attempt at mutilating a baby, and she's out of prison already dafuq. she should also lose custody of her kids. in this case wouldn't mind her photo being published as a PSA. as a parent i wouldn't want my kids near her. plus her being chinese the public shaming/losing face would be an added bonus.

In the article, they mention that she's a Chinese National - does that mean she's a PR or she's a Canadian Citizen?
If she's not a citizen - I'd rather they just revoke anything she has and just deport her. I wouldn't even want to waste money having her in jail here.
