only shitty thing is it would probably take tanev/edler+ Virtanen or edler/tanev McCann + future 1st

them top two lines next year tho. especially if Eriksson is coming like expected

If we get both Pulj and laine we will waste another decade looking for elite centerman to feed the fins like we wasted a decade finding the perfect RW for the sedins

dbaz 02-07-2016 11:34 PM

when you have 2 elite wingers on the same line, you would only need a center who has good play making skills ala Ribeiro which is why horvat could probably do it

Mike Oxbig 02-07-2016 11:41 PM

brendan morrison comes to mind lol

CRS 02-07-2016 11:58 PM

The Sedins made Taylor Pyatt and Anson Carter into superstars.

Since when was Loui Eriksson coming here? I thought it was Milan Lucic? According to Dregs (the tool bag) we're also in for Andrew Ladd because why the fuck not? :lol

All you need is a pass first center and you're golden. I'd gladly trade one of our top prospects if it meant we get Poolparty & Laine together. They already have excellent chemistry together, so they're at an advantage compared to pairing a guy like Virtanen up with another player and hoping they work well together. Same reason why the Sedins have been able to be so successful regardless of which winger they get paired with. If that winger doesn't produce, you know the Sedins will still put points on the scoreboard.

2nd or 3rd overall would probably cost us BoHo...... knowing JB we'd probably lose Rogers Arena too

benning has been trying to acquire Eriksson since he became gm in Vancouver. obvious target in UFA, probably their #1 with the chemistry he has with the sedins.

lucic would be a mistake at anything long-term over 5mil hes going to break down horribly and theres going to be someone who pays 7mil to see that

ladd is asking for the exact contract kesler got.

Jmac 02-08-2016 06:36 AM

Kesler at least had a resume to back up his demands (40-goal season, Selke winner, multiple-time Selke finalist). And that's already looking like a huge mistake, let alone when he's old and broken down.

Ladd has 30 points in 52 games this year and is on the wrong side of 30 plus he doesn't even play centre, which makes that even more laughable. Ladd's only thing on his resume is a Stanley Cup as a 3rd liner on an uber-stacked 2010 Blackhawks team.

1 60-point season
No 30-goal seasons
Cleared 25 goals twice

I might do a 5x5, but no way in hell is he worth 6x7

RiceIntegraRS 02-08-2016 08:40 AM

Remember when Kypereos called him a legitimate 30 goal scorer? haha fuck no to Ladd

50-60 points isn't something to scoff at anymore. Having those numbers means you're likely in the top 100 in terms of points.

Typical fan math. Use what the fans think a player's worth plus 1-2 mil on top.

It's something to scoff at when you're on pace for a 45-point season at the age of 30 without much of a resume from the past dozen seasons and are demanding a 6-year, $40M contract, which would be a top 25 cap hit amongst forwards next year.

Lucic is younger, has a better resume, is having a marginally better year this year, and has a very rare skillset ... and most people would scoff at giving him a 6-year, $40M contract.

6o4__boi 02-08-2016 09:23 AM

Gaddamn those contracts.

I can't believe teams are paying old ass has-beens that kind of money only to be bought out/be a useless bag of pucks 2 seasons into that

In a common sense world Ladd shouldn't even get anything more than $3M and 3 years but with all these dumb ass contracts everyone's over valued and pretty much worthless 3 years into their long, stupid contracts

dbaz 02-08-2016 09:29 AM

welp ladd has 2 more cups than kesler, so that helps his resume.

also lucic negotiating contract with la atm, apparently in la newspaper today he said he wants to retire there

Jmac 02-08-2016 11:36 AM

Byfuglien re-signed, 5x$7.6M

highfive 02-08-2016 12:21 PM

The only ufa I would throw big money at was kopitar but la is too smart to let him go to ufa.

I really wonder what's going to happen to stamkos.

thanked for spelling the word re-signed correctly. A rare occasion indeed, in these threads :ahwow:

Demko topped Cory Schneider's single season shutout record for Boston College tonight.

no thanks to Backes. that guy is gutless. for eg. turns tough guy mode on when facing select opponents. he took on a 18 y/o Nathan Mackinnon (how brave of him when hes got a couple inches and probably 30 pounds on him)

Bfuyglien (sp whatever) would have been ideal, but doubt he wants to go to a rebuilding team. but why in the hell did he want to resign in WPG? its a fucking featureless freezer. at least he is getting paid in USD

Thats another thing...having a low CDN dollar means that we are effectively paying 1.4~ more for each player. lets see how Aquilini mafia handles spending going forward
