McCann and Virtanen are outplaying Vey based on their performance so far in the pre-season.

Carrying 8 D men would be the only option if they dont send Hutton down.

As much as I like the guy and I'm really cheering for him but they're in a pickle with this one. Corrado being sent down would make him subject to waivers.

Rather see him play a full year in the AHL and be ready for one someone gets hurt. Or pull a Tanev and have him develop down there and bring him up at the deadline when you move someone.

Higgins being hurt opens space up for Virtanen and Vey should be moved out for McCann.

Send Hutton down until we have an injury since it will happen sooner or later.

True, Hutton's the odd man out at this point and he's really better off getting more mins in the AHL than playing 10-15 mins a night in the NHL.

With McCann and Virtanen, I think they've at least earned the chance to stay at least 9 games for further eval. At this point, i'd trade Vey for anything anyone would offer.
But of course, I have no expectations of any of this happening. Vey will probably reign supreme and get 2nd unit PP time in the early goings of the season. The guy's leash is so long he could take a shit on centre ice during a game and WD will wipe his ass and put him on the next shift.

I think the Canucks will move Hutton down based on what you guys said, but I just feel bad for the guy because he's played absolutely lights out. Based on what the true meaning of a training camp is suppose to be, he should've made the team. Same thing applies to McCann but they're left out because of stupid contracts on this team.

Imo, Corrado deserves to start in the minors. He's looked pretty lack lustre during training camp and I suspect it's cus he knows that he can't go anywhere but stay on the team. Maybe he'll step it up and make us forget about Hutton for a while but if his indifferent play continues well into the season, i'd honestly rather risk losing him to waivers. We've got enough underwhelming dmen under contract.

McCann should make the team but vey isnt subject to waivers so JB should just trade the guy for a late round pick...as for hutton he is getting the shaft due to frankies contract but if you have a guy who is playing better they should make room for that said player...we all know whats going to happen in the long run anyways...virt and mccann will get 9 games while vey is in the press box...
