I don't think Seattle is getting a NBA team soon, considering they've gotten screwed over twice in the last few years (Kings relocation and recent bid for expansion). They threw so much money around at their recent bid that the NBA still didn't care to grant them a team. If Seattle has any self-respect for themselves, they should stop bidding and tell them to F off. The NBA needs Seattle more than the other way around.
not typically a John Oliver fan but this one's pretty relevant:
How about Hank telling a Swedish newspaper today that they would be ok if they were traded.... I don't have a link but they have been talking all about it on 1040 this morning
lol Holtby is just aiming high, guy's an average goalie at best and will probably be a full time bought out back up by 30 if he gets a lick of good money.
ufa was a pretty shitty crop this season tbh so i can't give em that much credit for showing restraint. If next year turns out to be good, stupid money being thrown around will resume.

Expressen reporter Jonatan Lindquist tells Sekeres and Paterson that - after talking with the Sedins in Sweden - the Twins prefer to stay in Vancouver and play out their contracts in an eventual supporting role. Lindquist also says the Sedins would be willing to move, if asked, but their preference is to be Canucks for life
Because the Sedins are team players, if moving them will help the team in the future they will be not happy with it but ok since they are the type of unselfish players every team needs and wants.
I'm more surprised by Braden holtby thinking he's worth 8M per year... It's an arbitration request but still
I've been generally impressed by how most gm's have been able to show such restraint this Ufa season.

which is all the more surprising that somebody like Franson still isn't signed. He wants money and term no doubt, but nobody is biting. He'll get something for sure, but definitely not the big pay day most expected.
A weaker UFA class typically means that silly contracts get handed out like candy. The change this year, combined with the hype around the emphasis on drafting (even in the crapshoot rounds 3-7), feels like a bit of a shift in the landscape of most teams/GM's. Maybe its the supposedly deeper draft pool this year, but I get the impression GM's are understanding that the key to success or even mediocrity can't be gained through throwing money at overvalued players, it's more effective AND cheaper to do it through drafting, prospects, and club controlled assets (RFA's). I wonder how this will affect the next CBA

The Sedins are exactly that
Its like Bieksa as well, he didn't really want to uproot his entire family to leave the city, and he "said" he was willing to fall with the team
whatever it is, once you got families, its sometimes bigger than the team. The Sedins worked to where they are now as respectable Vancouverites not by being great hockey players, but they have done so by contributing back to the community.
Braden Holtby has the highest career playoff save percentage of all time.
yeah...but only through 34 games
as a regular season goalie his numbers are decent but he hasn't even played 200 games yet so the sample size is small
he strikes me as a goalie who'll put up a couple of good years, get good money and then disappear.
