Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

Canucks get:
D Jyrki Jokipakka
F Brett Pollock
Conditional 2016 2nd Round Pick (turns into 1st rounder if Dallas makes conference finals and Hamhuis appears in at least 50% of the team's games through the first two rounds)
Benning got greedy and decided to ask for more once Dallas agreed and Dallas said fuck you, took the offer to Calgary and they took it and ran with it.
Jesus christ
Thought I heard on 1040 that JB said Dallas had more interest in Russell and chose him over Hamhuis for same package.. was that said in the video I didn't watch? Or any other evidence of that being a fact?

That's a pretty shitty deal...but it would've been better than nothing.
If Jokipakka becomes a strong top 4 d-man for Calgary I'll cry. I would have taken Jokipakka and Pollock for Hamhuis without the draft pick, then re-signed Hamhuis in the summer.

Hamhuis is a UFA
that's a great fucking deal

As a Sabres fan, I can only imagine how furious I'd be if we didn't trade our UFAs Vanek, Pominville, Miller, Stafford, etc... and get no assets back for a rebuild.
Jeebus Benning, this is so bad that it's comical to me at this point lol
Also some banter that the Dallas deal was in place but it wasn't jb getting greedy explicitly, but 'someb-illini' not wanting to make that deal with Dallas bc of past history; maybe that's why jb was trying to push for more returns to sell to the boss. No sources, but really, would that be surprising, to anybody?

It was hypothetical, not meant to be comparable. You would take that temporary relocation because the job/money/prestige of the deal is important to you. If I had $20M+ sitting in the bank and have a comfy cozy life at home, I'd tell my company to piss off I don't owe them anything. Anyways this is moot because we now KNOW what we are talking here isn't why a deal didn't get made.
I'm personally more concerned about his will and drive to win. Not too different from luongo giving up the dream to chill in Florida because of family, which unknowingly has put him that much closer to a chance at winning than sticking around here would have.
^ Exactly! Then you're a fuckin piss poor employee with a bad attitude/poor motivation and deserve to be told off which is exactly why I said what I did about Hamhuis. Thanks for agreeing with me.
Youve got no idea what you're talking about, Luongo has been quoted numerous times in interviews stating how upset and angry he is at the fact people think he went to Florida for a vacation, because he's a competitor and wants to win but he felt Florida had something good up and coming plus a good situation for him personally.

I seem to recall Lu saying he liked FLA's direction after the trade and that he wouldn't waive to go somewhere with no chance to win. Lu's a competitor, he didn't go there to "chill in Florida"

He's also put up excellent numbers since going back to FLA (could even say better than his last 2/3 years in Van)
i don't wanna read anymore Canucks related news the rest of the season
All i can say is, as a franchise, we're pretty fucking incompetent at every level of the game
Granted, it isn't as bad as the coilers yet but we'll get there sooner at this rate
Ownership has no business owning a fucking hockey team and should stick to fucking farming cranberries
Management is fucking retarded and is fully prepared to alienate fans and show the league how much of a fucking dumb fucking weak ass negotiator they are with ZERO fucking business skills
Scouts? Our scouts have been fucking blind and stupid for 45 fucking years

Or just maybe our motivation/priorities are in different places. Doesn't make yours or mine or Hamhuis' more right.

What else is he supposed to say? What did mcjesus say when he got drafted by the oilers, lol?
Yeah Florida is doing well now, but nobody could have foreseen they would be as solid as they are now at the time Lu was traded. Lu provided a list of 1 team that he would go to. Fact is he prioritized his family/personal situation ahead of his competitive urge to win it all when making that move, that much should be clear. the fact that he and his team are doing as well as they are now is just icing on top. And for the record I was a big Lu supporter and happy he is doing as well as he is, definitely happy he's not stuck around the hurt we'll be seeing over the next few years.
At least Gillis had a plan, this fucken idiot doesn't have a clue and is doing the Canucks way more harm than good right now. Every signing and move has been fucken wrong and the trades/moves have been beyond fucked and don't make sense. Benning should stick with being a scout cause he doesn't seem how to do anything else.
So our highlight of trade deadline was we lost Cracknell (who I think is playing pretty well) to the oilers for nothing.
Didn't trade a 6th rounder for Pirri (for fuck sakes, if we traded a 2nd for vey/baerstchi or hunter for grandlund) why not Pirri?
I'm going home tonight and i'm going to start a be a gm mode and i'll make trading to the max difficulty and i'll probably have a better trade deadline than Jim.
