Haha yah it's complicated... complicated to pass proper safety regulations and provide a warranty/parts network to a customer pleasing public.
Can't just delete media coverage or roll tanks out every time someone in the public gets upset about something or dies using your product. That is defintely complicated lol.

Yeah a great deal of it is safety but styling trends have also headed that way - to make SUVs look sleek they have to chop the windows down and do the sloping rearward roof.
I miss the 90s Accords which were such a joy to look out of it or my family's 1993 Protege which had such skinny pillars and an upright driving position. OTOH, whenever I close the pano roof cover in my RDX I feel like I'm in a cave.
AB has a $200 annual tax on EV's because they don't buy gas which has road improvement tax built into gas prices. Makes sense, we should probably do it here in BC, EV drivers should chip in for maintenance of roads.

A car-making plant is a multi-billion dollar investment. They would try to maximize the return of their investments.
As I've said it before, don't listen what they say, look at what they do. There's no reason to put a plant in MX if they only want to target the MX market. There's not enough demand in MX to support a multi-billion dollar investment that should operate in the next 20-40yrs. They'd be better off importing from China and paying whatever tariff and call it a day.
Yes, at the beginning, they might sell only to MX and South America. But the day they decide to flip the switch, they are going to flood the NA market with cheap EVs. Yes, they aren't the best thing out there. But just like how Huawei was able to bring down Nortel, they'd offer products that offer 90% of the performance at 50% the price. Incumbents won't be able to compete even by selling at 0 profit.

That tax is BS and has nothing to do with the roads. Daniel Smith is an idiot. She also made it harder to do renewable energy projects. Whay should someone who drives 5k a year in an Ev pay the same as someone who drives 20K a year. that's not how it works with ice cars.

She is just copying other right wing states in the US. There are only 45K EV's in Alberta. This is a 100% political play.

I think legally they are obligated have a transition plan for "x" number of years provided by a service provider of some kind. I think the latest company I can think of is Saab where GM dealerships had to provide support and parts for I think it was 7 years.
