Anyone eyeing the new Chevy Equinox EV coming out late next year and 2024? The lowest model price is quite attractive at ~$37k minus incentives.

Both the Equinox and Blazer are very welcoming entries from GM - not sure what's included / missing at the base-model Equinox but to me the pricing is very attractive for its size. These would be on my shortlist if I was in the market for an EV.

He's asking for a payment to transfer the reservation to you.

Agreed. With the size and range, it's definitely shortlisted for me as well. It's good to see much more affordable EVs coming out, but for me personally, it feels like buying a new phone - after a few years it'll become somewhat obsolete as with every new technology. Probably lease it lol

I must be a dumb ass, what payment transfer? This is a pre order right, why would there be a payment on a car that’s not yet titled ? The car hasn’t even come in yet. Sure if the dude put down a deposit, then the new guy gives him the deposit money when the car comes in right ?

It means he is a struggling new car dealership salesperson who is just trying to provide for his family after quiting his stable, albiet low paying job. The man needs money to buy a 911 for his family.

Yeah something weird about dark0821’s post… first off, I thought you can’t re-assign” your place in line. Second, I thought in Canada the dealership can’t markup the price on new cars? Last, wouldn’t the car just go to the next person in line who wants that spec?

He's asking for money for the pre-sale slot. It's like a real estate flip dude...

EDIT: either that or he's got a dealer markup on it.

I asked about this when I put my deposit down. They (my local dealer) said if you put down a deposit the price won't change from what's posted on the website, but if they have one arrive and the person who ordered it has canceled then they will charge a premium to someone who wants it right away.

A lot of dealers currently are taking orders with favourable trade ins. If you have a car for them they will put you higher on the list.

As for MSRP yes the vehicle will be sold at MSRP but basically all dealers right now are tacking on dealer add-ons that you don't want/need. Like nitrogen tires, underbody coating, ceramic coating, dash cam, floor mats etc.

^Pretty much my experience going through the process earlier this year. Car is sold at MSRP but the dealer fees were cranked way up from normal to pad their bottom line.

Badhobz 09-16-2022 08:38 AM

i guess i was lucky with my LC, they didnt pad anything. i just paid MSRP

LC is a pretty niche market car compared to the Ioniq.

Badhobz 09-16-2022 09:02 AM

according to my fellow old men on the LC forums, in the states they are asking for a 70k markup on the LC in california and waiting time is over 8 months

In my experience going through a few transactions during COVID for myself and helping friends / family, only the Kia dealer I dealt with actively tried to excessively pad their bottom line. They only quoted monthly lease cost and refused to quote total price and charges until I was in the box.

The other new vehicles (i.e. NX450h+ / G80 M3 / CTR LE) stuck with MSRP and standard fees.

Yes it qualifies for the full $9000 rebate ($5000 federal + $4000 BC) if your income is below 80k/yr

Please enquire about price (yes it is exactly what it means) we are at this point in the market

wtf rebates are income dependent now? you need to have a solid salary to afford them to begin with :rukidding:

Lol, and you think it takes a lot of battery power to move a car on land...

I think I calculated out that our boat's fuel consumption is 145L/100km (at cruise of 27mph)

I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with an EV road tax of some sorts. They are probably mad about all the gas taxes that aren't being collected.
