Damn, guess I'm expecting another price hike in insurance from the sounds of it.

My insurance was initially $2040 when ICBC switched to the no fault system.

is the cx-70 & 90 gonna be US-built?
PHEV maybe still from japan?

edit: beats the b58 by 5mpg, not bad but that did come out 8 years ago

The Eby-NDP gov has requested ICBC to freeze insurance rates for 2 years:

https://globalnews.ca/news/9342267/i...ance-coverage/

Seeing how it is coming from the gov, I think it is unlikely that the insurance regulator would deny it?

[edit] Apparently it is only basic insurance that is seeing the rate freeze. According to a friend, premiums for optional insurance still went up by quite a bit for a lot of cars because of the supply chain difficulties (and probably inflation pressures too).

yeah, got some model 3 friends that are complaining of the insurance increase on their annual renewals.

looks like there is a rate / premium hike on all of them seemingly (well look at the snow storms - model 3 is the most common casualty and there are tons lining up in Queue for body work repair still at body shops!!)

EV is still the best thing since slice bread, you're a financial idiot for buying ICE, the savings in gas is worth it!

What about BCAA for optional coverage? It seems like they over a more affordable recovery replacement coverage compared to Colwood.

It'll buys you 30,555L of fuel at 1.80 per litre

Or 611 fuel ups at 50L per

So 2 fuel ups a month = 305 months or 25years worth of gas

They keep doing technical updates to the B58. LCI X5 is going to 380HP with a new mild hybrid system.

I for one will probably be committing to the CX-70 with the 340HP engine. If it's in the 45-50k CAD range, it would be just right.

I swear some of you guys don't understand math. You still have to pay for an ICE car and you have to pay for the gas. It's not a tough concept to wrap your head around. Cost of ice car + cost of gas vs cost of EV plus cost of Electricity. There are a lot of other benefits to the ev (like charging at home) but I don't want to make this too complicated.

I just want one for the torque + power. For the price of a TM3P, I don't think there are any ICE cars that can offer the same level of acceleration LOL~

Everything else is just icing on the cake.

That's if you can charge at home. If you have to charge outside that gas to EV equation doesn't equalize.

Not everyone can charge at home. Most stratas atm are going to give you a hard time if you want to install chargers.

EV debate loop

High initial price but low monthly electric charge -> how long will it take to recoup the initial price? -> what about charging at home/condo? -> install level 2 charger -> but strata won't allow me/house too old -> not convenient to charge at public stations -> back to beginning and repeat.

Summary of last 90 pages.

Or you could buy that 1996 Camry in the Good Buys thread for $5k and never look back... varoooooooom...

I'm sure your wife would love it too. If she doesn't, you'll have a new ex-wife to argue about it with!

If you don't have a home where you can charge then you shouldn't get a EV. Phev is the choice for you. Simple as that.

+ How much you drive. If you drive over 500 km a week ev will save you money. I doubt what you're driving does better than 10l/100km in Vancouver traffic. So easy math 50l a week X $1.8 if you fill regular = $360 a month in gas before maintenance + car payments.

Seriously tired of all the guys coming into Mercedes asking for EV thinking it's gonna be ultra cheap.

Seriously if people did some research online they'll find out the EQB which is not even a full SUV is 90k. A GLE350 is 90k and seats 5-7 adults comfortably and twice the size. Even if you compare apples to apples a ICE GLB250 is 65k, so you need to fill 25k worth of gas to break even.

I ask them why you wanna go EV, they say they wanna save gas, I just tell them bye bye.

Pretty much why i got one. It was that or the then new m340i.
Now we have a Y as well.

Actually the i4m50i is pretty damn fast and used to be around the same price before the price reductions

Man I still want to be China man and get a used gle63 couple, the turtle one but even used is like 80k and given gas prices and more deprecation, getting a gas car like that doesn't make sense any more.

Woah I wasn't aware of this, but you're right. BMW.ca has the LCI X5 starting at $86k....and still probably asking a few grand more to get Comfort Access.

A coworker's X7 lease is coming up and he decided to buy out the car after seeing the cost of a similarly-equipped LCI X7 - it's almost $30k more to get a new one with the same options.

An X5 now are all 100k with some options.

The LS400 debuted at 35k? It's minimum 100k now.

Well the Rx starts at 62k. Used to be 55k. Hardly much of an increase. MDX is around the same I believe. Only the x5 and GLE went batshit crazy.
