I have seen and held the mavic and I will say it is truly amazing at how tiny the thing is. It packs all the great features from the Phantom and its probably the easier drone to just pick up and fly.

With the karma, I find some of the unsupervised reviews to be simply people not being patient or not really know what they are doing. It seems tho, to me anyways that some of these people may not be as educated about Drones, but thats how GoPro wants it, they want people to just pick it up and fly, as evident by the very simplistic controller.

With that said, the Karma is very modular and a lot more future proof and comes with some great accessories to boot. The Mavic is very one year in season product with nothing interchangeable.

In the end, its really what your needs are for the drones, want to fly and have fun but lose the flexibility of the gopro ecosystem? get a Mavic. Want to have better video and more flexibility? get a karma

I just picked up a hero5black today, so im leaning more towards the karma because that grip does look pretty awesome.

in the mean time..im debating if i should spend a little bit practicing on the Zerotech Dobby

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-6MkDW4cvs

its got most of the features on the mavic, its small and not too expensive. can shoot photos, has EIS and does 720p video

What are you using the drone for? The Dobby does not have a gimble for the camera.

twitchyzero 11-03-2016 01:36 PM

get a hubsan if you wanna practice
not the dobby lol

iphonedo is an apple/dji fanboy through and through...i enjoy his videos but i haven't seen him criticize DJI much at all

tracking is done by software even in DJI products afaik

OA is a nanny aid which I think should be present in all these $500+ birds sold today but certainly doesn't mean it's necessary

Well they only recalled the first 1500 drones. Most of the drones are for reviewers and testers.

Q: Can I exchange my Karma drone for one that is not affected?

A: No. We are recalling all Karma units and providing a full refund. We are investigating the issue and plan to make Karma available once it has been resolved.

Tim Budong 11-10-2016 06:35 PM

yea that sucks big time

4K60 100Mbps with 1" sensor and 5-way avoidance :sweetjesus:

Inspire 2 looks less impressive as an upgrade...really interested to see how the battery heater works

Sounds like it's just an internal resistive heating coil. If it's kept on though, would probably drop battery life down to 20 min or so instead of 30.

I have the phantom4 . Why does it go to the right when I lift off by itself ?

RFlush 12-11-2016 07:21 AM

Do a IMU and a Compass calibration. see if that helps

jackmeister 12-20-2016 03:05 PM

Being located close to the distribution and factory has no influence on when the Mavics get shipped out.

That being said, DJI store in HK has plentiful of stock in batteries. I picked up 4 extra batteries a couple weeks ago and it's still showing in stock.

Thanks. I was wondering how do you check the stock level? Im going to HK next week and would like to buy some accessories and gimbal dome because i broke it already.

RFlush 12-22-2016 07:14 PM

It will show on the DJI site if you can order and the shipment time is a few days then most likely it will be in stock. I am not sure if the website is based on your location though. I can give them a call if you Wnt to confirm if they have what you need if you want
