wow you snowshoed up with the inspire?

Yeah takes a toll on your back after an hour... gotta do what you gotta do to get the shot. I've climbed wedgmount with it also.. never doing that again

twitchyzero 01-10-2017 12:01 PM

wedgemount is brutal with a full-size one esp with overnight gear...not doing it again either but it was worth it pre-karma/mavic

on the way down someone was going up with a phantom haha

ForbiddenX 01-10-2017 02:17 PM

I think candrone is getting more of the Fly More bundles in this week. Not sure if I want to just cancel my DJI order and pick up locally. Don't really feel like waiting but also don't feel like shelling out the extra $200 lol.

MadMax 01-11-2017 01:27 PM

Hey, anyone ever have that battery not quite drained but your Iphone 6s or 6s Plus still dies at 50% or more? Are you using your Iphone to attach to your Mavic Pro drone? Yeah, don't. My Iphone was at 60% and I got a text while flying early this morning and the screen went black. I tried to power it back on and the battery indicator showed it was empty. FUCK!

The mavic landed in a field so I got to fall through some ice up to my knees in a ditch trying to get to it. All is well but I'm seriously pissed at Apple. Just one minute earlier I was over the river. Be careful Iphone users!

6s May be eligible for a battery replacement under recall if your phone is one of the first ones I believe. I just had mine swapped under warranty and am a happy camper now.

MadMax 01-11-2017 07:04 PM

Yeah, it was, and just got it swapped but we'll see. My wife had the same issue with her 6s and the replacement does the same thing. I'm scared to death to fly with my Iphone now. I'm looking into using one of my old Android phones.

gilly 01-12-2017 12:32 PM

Had same problem with my iphone 6s battery. Battery dies at like 70%.
I use my ipad though for my phantom.

Peturbo 01-12-2017 12:33 PM

Try placing one of those hand warms on the back of the iPhone while flying for time being.

new Mavic owners, following the start-up guide to a tee may be inadequate

make sure you calibrate the compass and not only update the firmware.

took it to my usual practice field for the maiden flight. Home point locked with 18 satellites, sensors all reported working well. Took off and shortly after it kicked into manual mode with magnetic interference. The compass was going haywire and it drifted out of sight with my right stick basically unresponsive. I retained video feed and yaw control.

Every time I sorta nursed it back home it would drift off again. Not even drift off, practically flyaway as it was doing a solid 7-10m/s with minimal wind/momentum and no user input. This went on until critical battery auto-landing on a roof of a building I was fortunately familiar with...retrieved it the next day with only 2 broken props. Super lucky no one was hurt/no property damage.

There's no toggle between manual mode and GPS intelligent flight modes...which is silly because if GPS is weak or if there's magnetic interference it'll keep switching back and forth and there could be a delay until you have full control.

not being able to control a bird when you waited 4 months for it was a shitty feeling. Who knows, may be it's a hardware defect since the demand on the Mavic is so high. I sent DJI the logs. Hope no one has to go through a wild goose chase like that.

That serial # confirmation is worthless. I tried it, my phone wasn't qualified, yet I went to Richmond Centre Apple Store and after the battery test wouldn't even finish the Genius just said it should be replaced. Got a replacement 128GB 6+, zero questions.

Set up an appointment and have Apple check it out.

Is anyone into FPV (first person view) drones and drone racing? I just recently saw videos on youtube and i never knew there were people racing drones already (which im not suprised with).I just wanted to see if there are any people in the lower mainland that are racing drones already.

TOS'd 02-15-2017 08:29 PM

^ I've been casually doing some research on components before purchasing my first set. Anyone have any advice?

there was a drone fair last year
when the racing quads group hold indoor events they'll sometimes allow spectators

Manic! 02-16-2017 10:19 AM

Sometimes in the mornings TSN has the drone racing league on.

pb.kidz 03-16-2017 08:18 AM

As most of your may have heard, Transport Canada has now turned recommended guidelines into Law now with regards to use of drones:
New rules for flying recreational drones in Canada revealed - Politics - CBC News

Higher than 90 metres.
Within 75 metres of buildings, vehicles, vessels, animals or people.
More than 500 metres away from the user.
At night, in clouds or somewhere you can't see it.
Within nine kilometres of somewhere aircraft take off or land, or a forest fire.
Without your name, address and phone number marked on the drone itself.
Over forest fires, emergency response scenes or controlled airspace.

You pretty much can't fly your drone anywhere in Vancouver now.

Jmac 03-16-2017 04:48 PM

You can with a commercial license.

european 03-16-2017 08:56 PM

holy smokes that Vancouver drone racing, totally makes me want to buy a drone now.
Totally looks like miniature pod racing, haha.

twitchyzero 04-19-2017 12:50 AM

so news to me

DJI is bringing out a toy-sized selfie? quad that might be unrestricted from the new interim laws.

http://www.wetalkuav.com/wp-content/.../2017/04/2.jpg

Sans battery only 190g.

announcement is probably in the coming weeks for a summer release
even if it only does 1080p and battery life 15 minute for $499 US, I expect another Mavic demand-supply fiasco. Interested to see how well it does in the wind.

the last 3 minutes of the guys flying the drones were awesome.

Euro7r 06-14-2017 06:54 PM

Where do you guys usually head out to fly? Just want some tips on dos and don't. The obvious is don't fly over people and airport etc. Anything else to keep in mind. Even with reading the rules from transport Canada, a normal person can't gauge distance on those restrictions I feel.

twitchyzero 06-30-2017 06:43 AM

new laws are up

a lot more reasonable this time

Hey guys wondering if anyone can give me a hand

So I've got this dji PHANTOM 3 professional and I can't connect the dji go (pre 4) app to work with my android phone

I install the dji app

I turn the drones controller on and the drone, and connect my android phone with a USB, and nothing, I can't access the camera/anything. All I get is the screen which says "How to Connect"

However when I connect my iPad or an iPhone everything works just fine

I've googled the shit out of this and seems ppl have had the same problem, but I've seen no solution

I've tried three different Android phones and cables, and the same thing... The phantom inspire shows the option to access the camera (doesn't work tho) and the phantom 3 professional just shows "how to connect"

Any n all help is appreciated :)

twitchyzero 01-20-2018 08:45 PM

dji go android is a fkn mess...v4.0+ always crashing on the Sony and Pixel
are you on older android, pre-oreo? it might not play nice with Oreo

try plugging phone in first, turn on controller, unlock phone (app should auto open if not open it) , turn on the craft

try with airplane mode on, turn off battery saving features

be cautious if you're using v4.0+ on your P3, I tried v3 something on the mavic and that did not end well
