^ I really do. With the new shoes, it feels like a new car again......the M2 is just awesome.....

westopher 09-03-2018 12:02 PM

Beautiful wheels. Next mod should be a better camera.:noyoudidnt:

68style 09-03-2018 03:01 PM

I hate modern BMW’s, but even I will admit that the current M2 will one day be a car everyone wishes they had bought earlier cuz prices are over the moon

tofu1413 09-03-2018 04:13 PM

Modern take on an old school BMW M car feel.

itll be very desirable when all the M cars become mild hybrids or even full electric.

Energy 09-03-2018 04:15 PM

Which will probably be the generation after this generation (or next next for the M3/4)

tofu1413 09-03-2018 04:25 PM

yeah. the next M3/M4 will be carry over revised version of current powertrain.

will be a matter of time before the hybrid stuff trickles down to these cars!

I honestly have lost interest in modern M cars because they are way to porky and cannot lay down the power effectively ( especially the F10 M5). I was considering getting an 2015/6 E80 M4 as a DD because they have depreciated a fair amount for a low km car. However, when I drove one, it was powerful, but felt pretty huge. I think the best part of the M2 is the sheer small size, N55 power delivery, and the way it puts the power to the ground. Just awesome. I would say the M2 is the son of the E46 M3.

anyone considering getting one, just do it, feels and drives like no other current modern performance car. the M2 has such a unique character, it is hard to explain till you drive it.

LP700-4 09-03-2018 10:48 PM

The F80's feel way more dramatic though. The way boost comes on is like nothing..nothing..EVERYTHING all at once but I agree not ideal in terms of usability.

It will be interesting to see the M2 Competition and how the S55 affects the driving experience.

^M2 competitions are arriving, Brian Jessel got one last week

Z3guy 09-04-2018 08:27 AM

^ I am sure it will be awesome, especially in chaulk colour, but stupid BMW dealers are gauging the market and asking $90k to $99K.....haha!

tofu1413 09-04-2018 08:51 AM

yeah that new color is called Hockenheim Silver.

has a bit of a ceramic silvergrey and white to it depending on angles....

beautiful color. the comp should be a blast. got to see a press car up close at the M driving school event I went to last month!

essentially a short wheel base M4 with no carbon roof, composite trunk and head up display.

Is that because of dealer mark up? or are those additional options included in the car to inflate the asking price?

At $90 - $100k, that's Cayman S / GTS / "base" 911 money. I dunno about you guys, but esp at the price, I'm taking the Porsche instead of the BMW.

totally agree with your rationale. The MSRP is approx. $75k to $85k tops. Tofu, please correct me if I am wrong. At that price, makes tons of sense, but if I am spending $100k, I wouldn't be buying a M car......

The Producer 09-04-2018 06:11 PM

MSRP is 71.2k (base M2 is 65k) Sure, toss options at it but really if you were in the market for an M2 anyway, this is not much of an increase.

I don't really see how you can compare dealer mark up prices to other models MSRP. What were dealers/employee demo flipper scammers asking for GT4 Caymans when they landed?

Z3guy 09-04-2018 08:08 PM

^ unfortunately you have to take into dealer bullshit mark up to get exclusive models....not that M2 comp will be 5yrs from now...I could build a 2018 GT3 on their website for $180K with great options, but unless you have a desirable GT car to trade in way below market value, you are not getting a GT3. I have a friend who has bought a 997 Turbo S, Macan, and Panamera from Porsche Vancouver and he still had to pay a $40K premium to get a highly sought after GT3......I wish Mclaren would make even a cheaper version of the 540 to retail in $200k range to go toe to toe with the GT3

That will last for like 2 months just like the original M2 release markups. They will get their 2 idiots per dealership then realize no one else is buying.

Did a euro delivery Aug 21 for the M2 Competition. Best trip of my life.

Mr.Money 09-05-2018 12:01 PM

^^....oh shit,do you really want a put a fresh engine to the stress of track running it?.

what happen to engine/clutch break-in

bcuzracecarz 09-05-2018 12:04 PM

If you live in Canada and have a chance to run your new M2 Competition on the Ring, you run your new M2 Competition on the Ring, no questions asked. Moving on

Matsuda 09-05-2018 12:06 PM

i think most modern engines are broken in already at the factory aren't they?

Z3guy 09-05-2018 12:39 PM

Mr Money does ask a valid question. 2000kms is the first service where they change the oil to a different viscosity. On the first service, they also turn "on" the launch control feature. On the M2 forums, there are people on both sides of the importance of the break in period. Regardless, NKC One's trip seems like quite the awesome experience!

68style 09-05-2018 01:00 PM

Break-in is over-rated... think about it... you drive even 5 minutes at 3,000rpm... your engine has spun around completely 15,000 times already just in that time.

If it gon break, it gon break. Way more improtant just to let the car warm up a bit before ripping it.

BMW knows what it's doing, won't set up customers for failure like that.

320icar 09-05-2018 02:14 PM

By the time you get delivery, the lot boys have already broken in your engine. The crosshatch pattern on the cylinder walls have MAYBE 100km to seal to the new piston rings

twitchyzero 09-05-2018 06:20 PM

your photo made my day, thank you
