we've passed some cars with aftermarket mufflers that have the factory cats and resonator so in the end, its just mufflers that look factory, if your coming in with a complete catback, chances are you will fail, like I said, its up to the inspector

Majority aftermarket exhaust systems are for off-road use only, it will say it in the installation manual

So aside from smell, is there really no point to running a 400cell or 200cell aftermarket cat, if it's not legal anyway?

I’m thinking about adding a cat even though legally I don’t need one (didn’t come with one). Because smell and the environment.... getting old. Lol

Nope. I don't think it's ever safe anymore until Cain is out of that unit...

GIZZ 11-26-2019 06:34 PM

You just have to be responsible in modding your car. "OEM+" is en vogue now anyways, lol.

I didn't know people actually sound like this in real life. Just replace "mustang" with "camaro" and it's basically kev-o.

I passed twice with an aftermarket turbo back, it all depends on the inspector and if you have all your cats as well as volume of your exhaust.

side note, I saw a heavily modded yellow gtr pulled over by an unmarked hyundai today at 3pm on main just after the viaduct heading southbound. I don't know if he was getting a VI but the chances are pretty high.

Niyeaux 11-27-2019 04:16 PM

Cain apparently hanging out at Knight and 41st right now.

I've found a set of winter tires and hopefully i can negotiate a fair price with.
Prior to following through with the tires, i would still need to confirm whether my car will pass otherwise buying and installing the tires will mean nothing but putting myself into more debt i cannot recover.
Question about tires, (while i plan on installing them on my oem rims) is it necessary to use exact tire specs (205/50/16) or can i have larger wheels (JWL ok) but relatively same outer tire size ie 205/45/17 (+.8% diff)? or increased sidewall such as 205/55/16 (+10%)

I spoke to Honda service rep and he said I dont have to take my car to Honda specifically even though it was stated on the notice by the pig (he doesnt deserve be to called a cop thats why) So Im open to recommendation to shops that can (for a lack of better term) pre-evaluate my vehicle.

I really dont want to explain myself and im being very objective here. But if i may, I have a big problem coming to me if I dont get my insurance renewed by mid dec. So if you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem, thats the best way i can put it without getting emotional. Im not in a fight with any of you guys here and thats why im not defending, criticizing or replying to anything thats not going to help my situation.

thx in advance.

* I want to mention that I appreciate any help I can get and in return I believe I can be helpful in the repairs and diagnostics forums. For now, that is what comes to mind. Whether anyone cares, im being sincere.

^ I'd take the car in as is in your scenario to mitigate financial losses. It looks like you've done what you needed to do to rectify what was on the VI and it seems right now you're doing preventative measures to ensure you pass (not knowing exactly what might fail). If you fail the VI at the shop they'll tell you exactly what you'll need to replace and that would be better than throwing parts at it.

Also, shops wouldn't generally put your car on a lift and do a quick once over unless you're paying for the time.

I'll be a part of your problem I guess, as you lack respect and come off as a selfish tool that simply wants to now use others to get only what he wants. So, your ultimatum can get parked with you mid-December, that may be a better life lesson you need right about now to work on; your car problem can simply fade with cash.

Aside from the fact that ive been fixing the car to insure its maintained to function properly since day one (theres a story on how I got the car, but i dont want to give this a subjective narrative) I simply dont have time to find a job (i use my car for temporary work) . It has been a long running dilemma. I had a plan and I had a list of maintenance and logically i focused with the safety and top priority jobs first.
lets get back on topic before i lose focus, i know what im doing is a stretch especially when there are too many variables but ive been through times like this. ive put too much time and work into this car and if im going to let it go, i want to do it on my terms. maybe im just bullsh8tting myself, but its all i have right now. Had this been a year or two earlier.. it doesnt matter. it is what it is. I live on my own and i have bills to pay.

ive been misdirected, misinformed and even the alleged offense on the ticket is corrupt as f*ck

throwing parts at it? why are you guys putting words in my mouth.
thats the complete opposite of what i have been doing. just get back to the issue on hand. im sorry if my approach is not proper or any standards. is there anywhere or anyone else i should ask

Your Honda service rep doesn’t know shit about the situation.
Follow the instructions on the notice and order, or be prepared for more consequences.

VPD in a pick up truck had his light bar on while towing a car on Marine dr by Elliot last night. Can we issue a complaint to CVSE as that fucking light bar was blinding everyone going the opposite direction.

Truck said collision investigation, not sure if its cain?

tegra7 11-28-2019 08:31 AM

Why not cut your loss and sell the car as is and buy something cheap that doesn't require a vi?

BIC_BAWS 11-28-2019 08:33 AM

^ could honestly buy a rust bucket ek/eg/Corolla for $500 and not get VI'd

Bro - why do you need to ask anyone else? Clearly you know better than anyone else so keep doing what you're doing.
