What they'd really wanna garner attention with is a stock econobox. Something the population outside of the 'enthusiast community' can relate to. If such a case so far even exists. You'd wanna start there anyways. |
That’s pretty much why I didn’t want to pursue it. Even in the court it’ll sound whinny and I doubt it’ll enlist much sympathy. |

mine as well lock this thread now.... whine and finally have a platform to voice and everyone runs :troll: |
i would do the interview but my car isn't stock and i haven't gotten vi'd ....yet... |

There is nothing right about giving out a VI to anyone who doesn’t deserve one regardless of what they drive. I’m sure EVERYBODY would agree that one could put the $200-$300 inspection fee to better use. If this story can be executed correctly, it is not going to matter who the face of it is, or what they drive. It will expose a huge lack of ethics/professionalism with the current VI ticketing process. |
I think we should stop pressuring badhobz into being the public relations guy to the media for this thread. Those who got VIs on cars that passed without any modifications or those who should not have even been issued a VI should get in contact with the media. BIC_BAWS and many others have put together a lot of effort to garner enough media attention for them to attempt to put a story together and all we need are a few folks willing to put their faces and their cars on screen. |

But let's be honest, a maserati probably won't draw as much sympathy as something like a stock Corolla. That's not to say either is more or less deserving of an unwarranted vi, of course. It's just optics. |

I notice most of the people doing the talking in here aren't the ones that actually got VI'ed. Many that did get VI'ed just popped in here to post one or two times to vent out and then disappeared with no follow up.... And... I'm sure we're all still waiting for that YouTube story/vlog about "what's really going on" from that guy that got his Abarth VI'ed, who last mentioned he was gathering information directly from dukake (who supposedly knows the full story, but isn't the actual culprit). |
I’m just choosing my path carefully. I plan on being armed with actual legal info before committing to anything that could harm the cause. People have to understand we are fighting against something that clearly, according to the events we have seen can just choose to make our lives more difficult with no recourse. It’s important for us to be thorough with the plan. These guys in here can mouth off about how people are being pussies for not stepping up to the plate, but the simple answer is we are just trying to not be fucking stupid about it. There’s no point in going into it and just fucking it up more because we didn’t do our due diligence. If I’m not going to make a positive impact, I’ll choose to have no impact. |
You guys can barely scrounge together a meet with more than 3 cars. GG vs VPD lol |
I don't blame hobz he doesn't want TEU coming to his house, and disrespecting his family his mom might take away his Vespa |
Can someone confirm if its true that the price/fine goes up substantially for a box 2 if it is not done within the 30 days? I got my VI back in August on my MC but was unable to gather all the stock parts needed so I just cancelled the insurance after 30 days. |
The only thing that’s going to cost you more about it is you now need to tow your car to the VI. You can’t reinsure the car after 30 days without the VI completed. |
was thinking the other day would people prefer mandatory inspection for all insured vehicles every few year just like everywhere else (like aircare but for the whole car) or this current VI system? the complaint was aircare was a cash grab, but im thinking that is better than the current system to keep most of the lifted bros, stance bois and rust buckets off the road. |
I'd GLADLY take a yearly inspection over having my fucking night wasted and my car towed while being treated like a criminal. |
Exactly, at least if it was mandatory yearly we would know it wasn't discrimination and profiling like it is now. |
If only it actually WAS used to keep rust buckets off the road! I haven’t heard tell of too many rust buckets spotted being pulled over and dinged in the VI apocalypse. Quote:

It'd be fine for people who only have one car, but the idea of having to bring four vehicles in for annual inspections (and pay for them all) when some are only driven a handful of days a year sounds less than desirable to me. You also have to remember BC exists outside of the GVRD, I don't have a list of inspection facilities on hand but I'd wager a lot of places outside of the GVRD and Okanagan aren't very close to one. I assume that's why AirCare wasn't applied to most of the province. On top of that the current VI system would still exist because of the people who change their car to pass and then immediately make their vehicle illegal again. Ideally an annual inspection would be made to have better documentation than now, like having pictures of the car from all sorts of angles (all sides, engine bay, underbody, etc) that the police can pull up and compare to what they've currently got in front of them (before even pulling someone over), but that would be $$$ and just drive up the cost of the inspection. |

Update 3: I'll be trying to compile all 37 pages into a short cliff-notes. For the new people here, please note that this is no longer about Dukkake. While we are still waiting for his side of the story, the ship has long sailed. MJ_39 provides a pretty good summary of what we are looking at. Quote:
The officers may list things that are not true such as "non-oem wheels" as a offense against the MVA. For example, Enkei wheels can be non-OEM but they are JWL, VIA, or DOT certified, which is exactly what the CVSE handbook asks for (Plus Enkei actually makes plenty of wheels for Honda). Not only does non-oem wheels mean absolutely nothing, making non-oem wheels illegal results in shutting down an entire industry. |
Thanks for heading this up Bic Baws. And like westopher said, we have a valid case. But it needs to be presented accurately and effectively because we are toeing an extremely fine line before we come off as idiots like ricecooker above and lose absolutely all of our credibility. There's only one chance to set the story right. Some of you seem to forget that we're all in the same sandbox, calling others pussies when you're cowering behind your keyboard is pretty ironic and pathetic. |
