Vandals slash tires of around 100 vehicles in 1 night (South Burnaby)
Vandals slash tires of around 100 vehicles in 1 night
Suspects are described as 2 young white men, both wearing dark hoodies
Quote:
Investigators have released surveillance video showing two men suspected of slashing tires on as many as 105 vehicles in the same Burnaby, B.C., neighbourhood Sunday night.
The majority of the targeted cars had been parked around the 7500 block of 12 Avenue overnight. RCMP said locals started calling RCMP about their damaged vehicles at about 10 a.m. Monday.
Responding officers found several more vehicles with their tires ruined in the 7100 block of 10 Avenue.
"The sheer quantity of vehicles involved is shocking," said Burnaby RCMP Staff Sgt. John Buis.
The suspects are described as two young white men, both wearing dark hoodies. A statement said some residents in the area heard tires popping at about 2 a.m., but didn't call police.
Buis said the surveillance footage is being released with hopes that someone will recognize the suspects.
Anyone with further information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
If you have comprehensive coverage and you'd have to pay a deductible so if they only slashed one of your tires not worth claiming.

Both my Sister in law and her cousin got hit by these scumbags.
They should consider letting this guy stay with them when he is released from jail next year.

Police Say Surrey Teen Killed for Vandalizing Gangster's Car
KIM BOLAN Updated: July 17, 2010
It is hard to imagine how a stupid act of vandalism could end with a teenager shot to death.
But police are saying that Surrey teen Adem Aliu apparently lost his life for just that. He and some friends had damaged a few cars – one of them belonging to a man police describe as “living the gangster lifestyle.”
Now 20-year-old Steven Brandon Mulligan-Brum is in jail facing a charge of second-degree murder in Wednesday’s slaying.
so if they are caught, then what? can we get them to pay for our deductible?
You could sue them and if their under 18 sue their parents.

Medium and heavy duty tires (including some LT) have different sidewall construction from our passenger radial tires. It’s called a ‘zipper rupture’. When the sidewall is compromised on an LT or higher tire, the steel belts in the sidewall start to break one by one with a very disctintive snap. Zipper rupture is clear just from the way it rips open. Most work vans run 55-65psi front and 75-80psi rear. Very dangerous indeed.
I feel that Surrey gangster needs to make a comeback and teach another lesson.

After more than 100 tires were slashed in Burnaby over the Thanksgiving weekend, police announced on Friday they have arrested a pair of teenagers in connection with the case.
According to Burnaby RCMP, around 10 am on Monday, officers responded to multiple reports from residents around the 7500 block of 12th Avenue who had discovered their vehicles’ tires had been slashed overnight.
As police continued their investigation, a number of additional affected vehicles were discovered around the 7100 block of 10th Avenue.
Now, police have announced that a 14-year-old and 15-year-old have been arrested in connection with the case.
RCMP said both of them were arrested without incident and are facing charges of mischief in connection with the incidents.
Police said as the investigation is ongoing, there is no further information to release at this time.

Individuals can probably sue the parents at the small claims court for their losses, but that would take time away from each affected person's lives, and I suspect a good number of them won't bother.
With the kids being under 18, they'll basically just get a slap on the wrist without any sort of permanent records at all. Granted, as costly as this 100+ tire slashing spree is, I don't think this incident should be held against these teens if they decide to really change their ways.
I wonder what the parents are like, and I wonder what kind of kids these teenagers are... Are they showing any remorse at all? Are they aware of the scale and severity of what they have done?
When that guy keyed hundreds of cars in Coquitlam before, didn't they combine the value of all the damage together and charge him with something much more serious and he actually went to jail?
Unlikely here given their age... but yah definitely the parents are open to civil action from every vehicle owner.
