not all of them are illegally owned though, it's just so easy to get them.

open more mental health services for the veterans..... weapon could have been a knife, a bomb, anything...

ae101 11-09-2018 03:17 AM

But that takes funding the VA services for healthcare, and we all know how much the current party in power hates funding subsidized healthcare. Maybe with the shift in the House some measure an be taken, but veterans services will not see any increase in funding under the current administration, despite its near fetishistic worship of "the troops".

How about a complete ban on guns period. Find all gun owners, take the guns, search people entering the state for weapons, and collect those guns as well.

No guns within the state, no guns coming into the state. Next news articles will be about a guy pulling out a knife injuring 3 before getting tackled and arrested.

Manic! 11-09-2018 08:36 AM

Washington state just voted in the toughest gun laws in america. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.seat...ll-do/%3famp=1

That sort of a policy would be guaranteed to start a new US civil war, and guess who would have all the guns?

westopher 11-09-2018 08:50 AM

The military?

Maybe I'm guilty of assuming you were taking an angle, that you weren't, based on your other posts.
So, is the fact someone can easily, legally acquire a gun (not necessarily in California, but America) making things easier to commit these acts?

You should look them up. I did. Licensing and sales are quite restrictive, even by Canadian standards. And that's just me scratching the surface with a brief overview.

Spoiler!

so all-in-all you're looking at nearly 300$, and a significant time investment.

From what i found it was actually $100 for license. And it only lasts 2 years.
Regardless, do you think a lengthier training course and slightly higher fee would have deterred this? Be honest.

:awwyeah: one of the reasons they have their guns in the first place

Manpc! you should go and try take their guns yourself, keyboard soldier

Great68 11-09-2018 10:17 AM

Given the rift that's already developing in the USA and getting worse and worse by the day, do you think that those people would just surrender them all willingly? These people will fight the military, and the military has many people within it that would fight for their right to guns.

The only way out of the current situation is with small regulatory baby steps over a loooonng period of time such that a few generations from now it will be normalized for the average citizen to not think they "need" guns in their life.

Problem right now is that not enough of their politicians care to even attempt to make that first baby step.

So you mean they will become terrorists and kill their neighbors. You really think most people will quit their jobs leave their families and go into the bush to fight the military? Not going to happen. People have been talking about the south rising again ever since the civil war ended.

The second amendment protects the first.
Socialists who are more than happy to give every last ounce of control to the state don't seem to grasp that.

Bouncing Bettys 11-09-2018 10:54 AM

If tensions were to reach the point of civil war and gun rights were the catalyst, I would imagine there would be a divide among the military since many are pro 2nd Amendment. To serve one's country or to protect your own rights. It wouldn't be a war between citizens and the military. It would be citizens and military vs citizens and military.

welfare 11-09-2018 11:03 AM

The idea is preposterous.
Who would even take orders from, and very possibly die for, a country in order to eradicate the very constitution it was founded on?
To say it wouldn't be popular is a ridiculous understatement.

And whose going to enforce that?
The only ones who are willing to disregard the constitution are leftists. And last time i checked, they were advocating for safe spaces out of fear of being offended.
Not exactly the type to risk their lives tearing law abiding (and some not so law abiding) citizens guns from their hands.

Great68 11-09-2018 12:25 PM

I don't think Manic quite understands what a right protected by their constitution really means.

CivicBlues 11-09-2018 12:47 PM

LOL @ Civil War 2. As if a bunch of survivalist rednecks with AR-15s are going to stand a chance against a JDAM missile strike.

*The South shall rise ag-KAPLOWWWY!*

If anything, the illusion of control is the biggest fraud perpetrated on the elites upon today's populace.

2nd amendment die hard soldiers are going to follow their orders from Command because that's who signs their paycheck.

So they will follow orders to subdue or kill citizens, including their own friends and family with whom they agree with to their core, for shit pay?

How many people do you think will actually do anything? 99.9999% of the people will not take up arms.

You don't understand how the military works. From day one soldiers are taught to respect the chain of command. It's drilled into there brains. There is nothing worse than being a traitor.
