Will also take the people who want to drive for ride share a decent amount of time and cost.

https://www.icbc.com/FAQ/Pages/Drive...x?QAQuery=uber
Highlights:
To declare how you plan to use the vehicle so the insurance can be properly assigned a specific taxi or limousine rate class. (IE: Business class)
At a minimum a Class 4 (restricted). This is a commercial driver’s licence, which allows you to drive up to 10 persons including the driver.
Licence plates specially designated for taxis and limousines.
You will also need:

A licence approved by BC’s Passenger Transportation Board (PTB). Find out more on PTB requirements.
A National Safety Code Safety Certificate.
Semi-annual commercial vehicle inspections.

Locally I've used the Chinese Uber a bunch of times, so easy! My one experience with Uber in Honolulu was fantastic as well. Thinking back to all my taxi experiences in this City it's been a mix bag of poor to ok, never amazing.

I use UberLyft a lot in other cities. It is great, except for the drivers. 85% of the time, the driver is new to the country and is scary as hell to drive with. But they usually have a newer car with good airbags. Strap in! Lol

Dude, how are they stalling the process? They are trying to get the legislations passed. You may not like the rules and requirements they impose on the industry, but they are not stalling.

Buddy, I think you are the one that have no idea how elections work. The people that voted Mr. Horgan in (and probably some that voted against him) want to have Uber. If he doesn't get it done, those voters are gonna be pissed at him.

You keep thinking that..wasnt Uber suppose to be here last winter..what happened??..now its in 2019 and even that isnt 100% confirmed. The Liberals were the ones that announced it and in the next election they lost...hmm..wonder where are all the votes came in from. I deal with the taxi industry on a daily basis..so i have a bit more info on it.

Until I see an uber on the street. This is just stall tactics by the government to please the taxi cartel. Why do we need 2019 (still not confirmed) to implement it when you can learn from every god dayum city in the world that's accepting of it.

In the meantime lets have drunks risking the drive home. People not bothering to go out because of the hassle or taxi drivers not showing up to scheduled medical appointments and the list goes on...

Did you read the article?

Quote:
Once the legislation is passed, the province must work with ICBC to create a proper insurance package and then start reviewing applications from companies wanting to operate in the province.

“The legislation will be in next week,” said Horgan. “And then we will go into the significant changes for our insurance packages for those who want to drive, there will be additional criminal record checks. We want to make sure the playing field is level for those already in the sector and those new entrants.”

"Level playing field" is just some PR words from these cab companies. Additional criminal record check for what? To add unnecessary cost? Uber does its own check which comply with local laws and even rerun its check on current drivers periodically.

"Significant changes for insurance packages" is another PR words for "we're gonna flood you with unnecessary costs so it'll become so expensive that you'd never get Uber".

If it does work out though, would love to see these cab companies improve their services and prices, or go bankrupted like they should.

comparing uber eats to the regular uber services is different in terms of the law. Going to ICBC, Transportation board, provincial government etc.

Hmm I wonder if by 'leveling the field' would be putting a cap on the number of Uber drivers....like 1 Uber driver to 5 cab drivers...

I hope not...

Good old over government NDP taking a proven around the world free market peer to peer lightweight sharing economy platform that literally everyone who doesnt drive a taxi wants, and weigh it down with heavy bureaucracy so thick it likely wont even float when it launches.

yes and uber eats is owned by uber, however that marketing blitz was purely branded by uber to get people hyped up about ridesharing in vancouver
