I am a little late posting but I wanted to share my experience working at a polling station on election day. First -- I totally recommend it. People are so happy to come in and vote. And very appreciative of the workers at the polls (a few even thought we were volunteers and not realizing we get paid). And what I wasn't expecting, but really appreciated, were people coming in who are originally from other countries where voting is presumably not easy or even possible. You could see on their faces how important this was to them because they have lived in countries where the people have no say in the government, or the democracy that exists is hampered by corruption. It's a long fucking day. 545am until 930pm. My position was Deputy Reporting Officer. As DRO, I sit at a table with a ballot box. I am responsible for confirming you can vote, handing out a ballot, collecting the ballot, counting the ballots and then reporting the results from my ballot box. The logistics of our election system is wild. They hand out and count thousands of ballots and each one is tracked manually and the accuracy is astounding. Lots of checks and balances in place. Could it be more efficient? Of course it could. The bureaucracy of an election is off the charts. But also, I don't think it's worth investing hundreds of millions to make our elections electronic. We only do it once every few years and at least with pen and paper there is no chance of hacking. Anyways if anyone has questions about how elections work and how ballots are counted and stuff, I can answer. Otherwise I hightly recommend getting involved next time around if you can spare the time. I have a new appreication of our country now. |
One positive story, of course, it happened in AB. Once in a while, they get it right! You can't use Mental Health as an excuse. Calgary man who fatally stabbed fitness instructor found guilty https://globalnews.ca/news/11163365/...ructor-guilty/ A Calgary man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the 2022 stabbing death of 30-year-old fitness instructor Vanessa Ladouceur. On Saturday, following a five-week trial, a jury delivered its verdict, finding 29-year-old Michael Adenyi guilty of first-degree murder. Adenyi, who pleaded not guilty, testified in his own defence, claiming he believed he was attacking a “creature” at the time. He said he felt he had to strike first or risk being attacked. His mother also testified, telling the court her son had been experiencing hallucinations before the incident. His defence argued he was not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder. However, the Crown maintained the attack was premeditated, pointing to Adenyi’s deliberate actions in following and ambushing Ladouceur. The jury ultimately sided with the prosecution. |
Alberta is also considering to separate from the rest of Canada! https://www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/arti...confederation/ |

B) how do they think that oil will get to ports? |
quebec will never work cause they ain't got money. At least AB can just sell oil all the way down (Westopher), they won't use our ports) They can be Texas Norht. On June 9, 2021, the Keystone XL project was abandoned by its developer.[21][22] At the time of the project's cancellation, approximately 8% of the pipeline had been constructed.[100] On January 22, 2025, Trump, who became president again, rescinded Biden's executive order that canceled the pipeline's permits, a move that could reopen potential construction of the oil system.[ https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...-route.svg.png |
if these AB guys are successful in leaving the country, i guarantee sask and manitoba will likely follow and then BC will be singled out and pressured to leave as well. all this secessionist talk is heresy! burn them |
Manitoba doesn't have the separatist sentiment. Good luck to Saskatchewan lol. Alberta may have oil, but I don't think they understand they'd have literally nothing else. The first wildfire season they have as their own country would be an interesting one to say the least with their current governments "planning" for things like that. |
if they do separate does that mean i will get my 2 bro's back!?!??! (GS8 and GReat68/68Style?!?!) |
I can't help but think "Sore losers having a temper tantrum" every time I hear these secession headlines. |
I feel the separation talk/noise is not that big ... depends on who you listen to. Many Indigenous AB are saying eff you Smith. Even PP is s strong united Canada. How about they carve a small part of AB for the hillbilies who want to join the US move there and let them 'secede' and be part of Montana? |
It's so weird. I lived in Alberta for 23 years. It was so different. It was a bit redneck for sure, but the only people that acted like this were like your buddies older brother Terry that still lived in his parents basement at 27 and sat alone in his room doing drugs under black lights with "budzilla" posters on his wall. |

How many jobs come from those data centres though? Money might flow in/out in terms of what they cost, but other than a few security guards getting paid minimum wage plus a dollar who is going to be working there? It's been pretty clear that the path to prosperity in tech is not for the average worker, especially the blue collar worker that Alberta is hinging its support on. |
Practically speaking, it is darn near impossible for any province to successfully leave Canada. The formal process is long, drawn out, and lined with multiple hurdles that are extremely difficult to overcome at every single level. Very roughly speaking, it goes like this: 1. Province holds a referendum on secession, and obtains a clear majority on the desire to leave Canada. 2. House of Commons approval 3. Senate approval 4. First Nations approval 5. some sort of approval from other provinces 6. constitutional amendment to allow for the secession As you can imagine, every step along the way is going to be loaded with barriers that are difficult to overcome, esp given how Alberta is generally considered to be Canada's cash cow LOL~ Negotiations on how assets are to be separated from the federal pool for Alberta would also be exceedingly complicated. (If you think Alberta withdrawing from CPP is messy, assets negotations on everything else is gonna be 100x more troublesome.) I also remember reading how if Alberta were to try and enforce their Soverignty Act on anything that Ottawa has jurisdiction over, the matter is gonna be taken to court, and there is a very high chance that the Alberta Soverignty Act is gonna be deemed unconstitutional simply because provincial laws doesn't have any jurisdiction over federal matters. |
Brexit was so effective though. MAUKA |
Britain splitting from EU. "We haf no ragrets." :derp: :troll: |
Funny Smith wants to separate but pp is running in Alberta. Also multiple tribes have sent smith a letter reminding her of treaty 6. https://scontent.fcxh3-1.fna.fbcdn.n...xg&oe=681ED78D https://scontent.fcxh3-1.fna.fbcdn.n...MA&oe=681EEB62 |
Native bands are the 5th column for the globalists, the natives aren't stupid, they know if they stay cozy with the feds, they'll always get paid. Any "Canadian" who thinks they can separate is delusional. The system has total control and the natives get paid by the system to be perpetual victims and be a separate, special class of people from whites and immigrants. Do you think for one second that natives would want to give up all of their special rights and privileges? They never will. Look how much money the Indian band with the "215 dead children" got... they cancelled Canada day that year, flew flags half-mast, all on ZERO bones or actual evidence. All heresay. They are an elite racial minority with unelected chiefs that get tons of free money from the government to distribute as they see fit. Any challenge to the woke-accepted land acknowledgements and constant "they're the stewards of the land!" and such noble savage talk is met with the full pushback from progressives who venerate natives, yet strangely, never live around them... |
Well yea. What would they do if they split off? Living in squalor as is with Canadas support |
I don't think the people behind Alberta separatism really care about doing things through legal channels. And I don't think the people behind them really care about their relationship with First Nations either. They can just declare a unilateral declaration of independence by some sort of threshold that is acceptable to the provincial government and dare the federal government to intervene militarily. And should the Americans decide to enter into negotiations around some sort of territorial arrangement or perhaps statehood for Alberta, what's going to happen then? |

Politics in Canada is a complete woke globalist uniparty and anyone "voting for change" is completely smoking crack. The system won! Just focus on getting rich and ignore politics. Politics is theatre for the 9-5 slaves. |
