For AC, aren't their current hourly rate somewhat reflect the fact that they will be unpaid for some hours? I doubt they would've passed their last CBA if this wasn't the case.

Sounds like they want an increase in hourly wages + increase payable hours, so it's going to be really tough for any company to accommodate such an increase, and I don't even like AC.

Obviously this is only one sided (https://www.aircanada.com/media/air-...negotiations/#), but the hourly wage, if true, certainly feels like it is subsidizing the unpaid hours:

Quote:

Pay example for Flight Attendant hired in 2015:

Starting wage in 2015: $25.13/hour
Present wage in 2025 if Flight Attendant remains working in the same Flight Attendant position: $63.07/hour, more than 150% increase in pay since beginning career
Present wage in 2025 if now working as a Service Director:
o $73.03/hour on narrow-body aircraft, more than 190% increase in pay since beginning career
o $87.01/hour on wide-body aircraft, more than 246% increase in pay since beginning career

That’s a sweet fucking gig making $73 an hour on a narrow body if that’s what it comes to.

I get there are all the safety aspects, training, etc. but let’s face it, for the majority of the flight ya ain’t doing much.

If you have enough seniority a flight attendant can do 2 australia trips and a winnipeg day trip and they are done for the month. Plus you can sleep half of the flight time while getting paid. That's only 8 days of work a month. If you use your vacation time, you only work 6 months a year.

RevYouUp 08-13-2025 03:37 PM

Hope my flight to Japan late September isn’t affected

That’s why AC is full of grumpy old cunts. These menopausal bitches ain’t gonna leave that cushy ass gig.

I'd say that's the one thing I hate about AC, the stewardesses are old and ugly.

It was especially jarring earlier this year when we had a boys trip down to Colombia. All the flight gals on LATAM were easily 8/10s at minimum.

Coming back on AC from Houston, they were all old, fat, crubby ass ladies with chubby arms and legs that kept bumping my damn shoulder while they trotted up and down the aisle.

There's a reason we see grumpy old cunts here in Van/BC

The union operates on seniority... Vancouver is not the biggest base, but the most people want to live here, but you can only get flights here if you have a lot of seniority ie: you're super old.

My ex-wife used to have to commute to Toronto to fly because she was 27 at the time and everyone from across the country was maintaining these weird condos in Etobicoke where someone would rent to anywhere from 4-8 flight attendants to use as a overnight stay since they're never there more than like 5-6 nights a month so she was in on one of those... she was told that maybe after 15 years she might be able to get a transfer to Vancouver as her home base. Maybe.

Inside AC the stewardesses call the Vancouver base "Jurassic Park" hahaha

In short, if you want hotties on your flight you gotta go out of Toronto.

Not fair to compare South American women with your typical middle-aged white lady in Canada! :p

Repeat offender attacks a tourist, then mocks the justice system on social media and STILL is given leniency :lol

Badhobz 08-14-2025 01:09 PM

Honda you should put on a mask and go fight crime at night. That’s what another white guy did and he got great results!!! He couldn’t stand for injustice any longer ! Now goth… eruhhh… calgary is better than ever ?

People in his city can walk out at night without fear of getting punched in the head at a cruise terminal.

Hondaracer 08-14-2025 01:33 PM

Isn’t that was the labubu guy said? Vancouver was Gotham?

68style 08-14-2025 01:45 PM

You’d make a great Batman… like… by your words maybe you need to go on a diet but I trust your judgement when dealing with baddies

Badhobz 08-14-2025 03:23 PM

At least he’s not wearing hockey pads !

mikemhg 08-14-2025 06:34 PM

Honda's big red beard wouldn't fit under that damn mask :)

Jason00S2000 08-16-2025 11:08 AM

The sheer amount of protests and how they're allowed to continue...

The convoy was what, 3 weeks? This has been going on for well over a year now across every city in Canada. Totally funded by and appoved of by the government because it keeps the left wing lunatics busy.

If convoy people were protesting fentanyl deaths or something, that shit would be shut down with Stompy the horse and the riot team.

Hondaracer 08-16-2025 11:12 AM

Binding arbitration for AC flight attendants

Good thing you paid all those union dues

mikemhg 08-16-2025 11:49 AM

Was arguing with a buddy about this last week, I kept telling him the Feds will step in as they'll deem this an essential service, essentially.

He disagreed.

Stupid fuck, of course the Feds aren't going to let our primary national airline cease operations.

Hondaracer 08-16-2025 12:00 PM

Yea I was just thinking.. that’s the burden of a large national carrier

I’m on a couple aeroplan groups on Reddit and Facebook and you’d think most of these people are “experienced” travellers but Jesus Christ.. people are fucking useless

Everyone is posting shit like “I’m stranded in Rome!! No one is picking up the telephone!! Please help!!

It’s like.. find another flight back home, and deal with the cancelled flight later ffs.. if you NEED to get back find a routing to get back.

I think the govt. was basically forced to do what they did because they’ve got Canadians all over the globe who are too dumb and useless to figure out a way back home.

I’ve said this here before and people got their oanties in a bunch but if you don’t have $10,000+ accessible, or at the very least you’re willing to rack up a credit card in order to get out of a situation OR you’re not flexible enough to spend a week+ stranded somewhere, man it is a risk relying on services to go smoothly on the other side of the planet.

What % of the people protesting for Palestine are Canadian? Does anyone know?

68style 08-16-2025 04:25 PM

You should go do a survey!

I don't know but there are already in Canada.

Your buddy trump banned UK artists from entering the US over Palestine. You upset about that?

What would cause someone to get banned? Did they utter death threats or something?
