Canada is going to manage the decline better than most places because our population is pretty docile, and our political system is really just red vs blue like the USA. All of the misfits and troublemakers are funneled towards poisoned drugs and a quiet, overdose death somewhere nobody gives a shit about.

If you are rich in Canada, you can insulate yourself from basically everything. Think I would have gave a fuck about the "vaccine" if I had been making 10k+ a month in porn instead of getting fired from my 9-5 "family guy" jobs?!

Also, using the UK or France as an example of “Europe” is a pretty limited view, the few places that are quickly turning into worse situations than Canada. Due to… failed immigration policies? Crazy! Who would have thought?!! Lol

it's far beyond just the UK and France.

Please tell me where bro, because I haven’t seen a deterioration of society like we have here anywhere I’ve been in the last 15 years.

Strung out crackheads everywhere and immigration destroying housing? Nah.

Manic! 08-05-2025 12:57 PM

Funny how Europeans conquered so many countries now those countries are doing the same via immigration.

Hungary?

CivicBlues 08-05-2025 01:06 PM

You can't really move anywhere because in a few years that place will be ruined as well.

Portugal, Mexico, Spain, etc. All places that were the "go to" for digital nomaders and retirees now completey ruined and the local population becoming hostile.

If I had a secret retirement place in mind, the last thing I'm going to do is tell a bunch of internet randos

Badhobz 08-05-2025 01:12 PM

its Antarctica isnt it? shack up with dem hot ass emperor penguin will make you feel rich.

GLOW 08-05-2025 01:15 PM

edit removing clip, watched the movie scene again and seemed inappropriate

Hondaracer 08-05-2025 01:15 PM

Surely the social justice kings who’ve ruled over us for the last 11 years are the answer to our problems no?

The people who REALLY care about social issues

The people who REALLY care about health and well being..

They are the ones to rectify this, yes?

:lol

mikemhg 08-05-2025 01:24 PM

I've traveled to so many countries the last few years both in Europe and Latin America, everyone is complaining about the same problems.

Everywhere is in decline, every country is dealing with housing and affordability issues, Canada isn't unique in that whatsoever.

GLOW 08-05-2025 01:35 PM

i thought certain countries have been decent at dealing with housing issues (vienna for example? i think they just do gov't housing like we do ICBC for car insurance? while not having ghettos)

though i'm sure in order to achieve that their taxes must be very high

Yea, not everywhere is one giant DTES though.

Cannot say this enough, since 2019 been to 10 countries spanning 3+ months, not one has the issues we face here. Not even close.

Their issues pale in comparison and they don’t have emergency rooms shuttered in cities with 150,000 people.

We are spiraling baby. My own neighborhood now is turning into an extension of the DTES and even places people thought were better like mt.pleasant, Main Street etc. people living in fucking cardboard boxes in doorways

Absolutely fucking pathetic the state we’re in when it comes to homelessness. Outside of the biggest shit holes you could come up with in the Portland, seattles, etc. on a global scale, major cities do NOT have issues to this degree, period. It’s embarrassing.

I am embarrassed to bring people around who are not familiar with the situation. People even from the UK etc. see the DTES and are blown away.

CivicBlues 08-05-2025 02:06 PM

When are YOU MOVING???

Hondaracer 08-05-2025 02:16 PM

If it was that easy I’d be somewhere else tomorrow honestly

Selfishly the best thing for me is to stay and complain about my soft life until I can go elsewhere.

Ideally things come to fruition before I’m 50 where I can retire and bounce.

I’m not tied down by anything here but the best opportunity to make $$$

I think some people here are so invested in vancouvers in their careers, kids, and debt, they have become delusional as to the state of the city.

Isn't this just your admission to what mikemg is saying -- that it really isn't just Canada, but most countries are going through a difficult time with deterioating quality of life while simultaneously becoming more expensive and such?

So it is nearly the complete opposite of your on-going narrative about how Canada is the only country in the world going down the septic tank.

RabidRat 08-05-2025 02:31 PM

What's on your shortlist of places to retire to?

I think the bar's pretty high, given you'd now also have to travel to see friends and family.

Honestly the DTES is the least of my worries. Is it terrible, absolutely but I'm fortunately to live far enough away it doesn't affect my day to day other than the general drain on municipal and provincial resources.

I'm talking about the immigration that is taking it's toll.

As for there first part, look at the UK and France as previously mentioned. Germany/Italy/Sweden/Spain/Portugal. All getting over run by African and Middle Eastern immigrants doing nothing but leeching on the government and causing a massive increase in crime.

Now if you don't believe me since it's not being reported on the CBC then I suggest you look at alternate news sources. Sure Instagram videos aren't a "news" source, it's pretty tough to argue with video evidence. It's quite sad what's going on over there and we should be thankful there's an ocean between us.

How does that fit the narrative? lol

I was born here, my education and work experience is based on my career here, I can make the most money HERE

I cannot live the lifestyle I’d want elsewhere given my current state. As I’ve said before, the quality of life in places like Scandinavia is far better without homeless people everywhere, yet my skills do not transfer over nor do I speak the language, so I wouldn’t live the life I want in these places.. yet

It’s not very hard to understand. The concept of simply getting up and moving isn’t as easy as you’d think, even with a passport and $$$

This will be a longer term thing once it happens, it’s not going to be some fling like moving to Kelowna and coming back to Langley in 2 years.

Ahh I get it.. so when I’m actually IN LONDON.. like.. 3 weeks ago.. and my driver from Eastern Europe tells me Islamic communities are shunning locals For not wearing headscarves and living generally “westernized” lifestyles, that’s totally impossible to believe

But when it comes to fitting your narrative about immigration ruining the UK it’s totally relevant :lol

Fucking pick and choosers around here lol.. can’t have it both ways

Didn’t see one North African migrant causing crime and disorder throughout Scandinavia

I only go to the “touristy” spots though so what do I know

bcrdukes 08-05-2025 02:47 PM

Similar example in a portion of Mississauga. Various religious groups (not Christian/Catholic) are pushing to have loudspeakers play prayer /religious chants throughout the day at their places of worship.

Hondaracer 08-05-2025 02:48 PM

Canada is the most beautiful country on the planet. It has some of the greatest diversity of landscapes anywhere

We SHOULD be a great nation, one of the greatest. But we’re not. And we’re not going to be, that ship has sailed. We’re going to be playing a game of catch-up for generations due to mistakes the leadership of this country has made for decades.

If we had no homeless people, it may be hard to believe but I probably wouldn’t even be complaining. But the homeless population really is the canary in the coal mine for the lower mainland. We can’t take care of societies most vulnerable, even poorly. Follow everything upward from there and you see your ER closures, social supports, cost of living etc.

im staying put in my retirement, but i want to go on long trips in the winters until im too old to enjoy doing that. maybe like 2-3 months away, 9-10 months back. who knows, maybe after 5 years of that i will want nothing but to stay in all the time. i dont want to be too far from my family though, especially if my parents are still alive around that time the last place i want to be is living on another continent.

Bro, I literally LOL-ed at your list.

I hope you'd have absolutely zero complains about what the various levels of gov are doing there.
