Ya the 5.0 is somehow good on fuel. I get 11.5 l/100km. Hilariously, it actuallt revs higher than the 2.3. 7500rpm vs 7000.

LS FC gets around 8L/100 but I can push it to 12 if I'm constantly stomping on it

The numbers on paper.... but it's a weaker down low, heat soaks & pulls timing really easily, and power falls off after 5.5k.

I would rather have had the V6 if it were still available.... but I do hear the Focus RS 2.3T is quite a bit better.

To be fair, I've had a few experiences where compact and midsize SUV drivers slow down in front of me on those 2/4 lane highways .... maybe they're triggered by the new exhaust note?

This didn't seem to be happen with the ecoboost

I had a 14 Mustang with the 305hp V6, I freakin loved that car.

When I bought my '19, I actually went to buy an ecoboost, but after driving it, although the speedometer said it was faster, it felt much slower than my old car. It just felt blah. While I love the 5.0l I ended up with, I really don't need 460hp. I would have really liked the 2.7 ecoboost in a Mustang, with a similar power figure to the Edge Sport (335 hp, 380 ft lbs)

2.3 just doesn't do it, and the 5.0l is nuts. Need something in between.

The mustang 2.3 can run regular gas, but you won’t get the advertised 300hp or whatever it’s rated at

the current Coyote 5L is a wonderful engine. very flexible powerband, and it still revs up to the top end. I suspect it may feel a bit lazy because of its displacement and a heavier flywheel.

maybe fuel economy is decent because of gearing. i think the standard 5L gots some pretty tall final drives. performance package cars got a nicer off the line feel with shorter final drive.

but having said that.... the voodoo 5.2L is just......

The Voodoo sound is amazing.
Did you see the new Corvette C8.R?
It also has a flat plane crank and is supposed to be derived from a road-going engine.

I've actually got the 10AT with both cars.
I've noticed that with the 5.0, it stays in 9th/10th going up hills on the highway whereas the 2.3T has to downshift to 6th and dig into boost just to maintain speed.

I'm guessing they didn't do that on purpose to avoid hurting 5.0 sales.

How the hell.......

When I had my G8, the 6.0L was never under 14L/100km. It still had the cylinder deactivation too. It was a fun car to rip around in. Maybe my foot was a little heavy?

Wonder if the FC is a lot lighter than the G8.
Those were under 3k lbs weren't they?

Whereas I'd expect the G8 to be over 4k.
Super cool car btw.
Dreamed of a G8 with Kooks headers all through high school.

It's funny, my car is 3.55 geared car, which means in 10th at 120km/h it's at like 2100rpm, my buddy has the same car in a 3.15 gear that turn like 1600rpm, yet I get better fuel economy. I think it just stays in 10th and pulls, where as the highway gearset has to downshift and eat fuel.

Us V8 owners are literally burning money for additional “theatre”. I’m not happy until I hear some crackling and burbling as I lift off.

01 Camaro SS is around 37-3800lbs
88 FC is around 2700lbs

The drivetrain is probably about 100-130lbs heavier than the rotary but sans all AC related parts (including evap and box), PS, and emmisions, I'm guessing it's around 2800lbs.
