Now, at 24 in the NHL the majority of the time "you are what you are" Jake has played 279 NHL Games and has been a professional hockey player for 6 years now. While yes, his goal production has been increasing year over year Jake is a VERY opportunistic player. He's also a VERY streaky player, as most goal scorers are. However, he pretty clearly isnt a permanent fixture in the top 6, and when you're not, what you're almost always asked for is consistency and reliability.
While he isnt a complete defensive liability, he doesnt use his size very often on the forecheck, and when he does get chances, usually he is on his own, or if he is with somone, such as on odd-man rushes, or rushes down the wing, he almost never creates a play or a scoring chance out of it. This happened numerous times in the Vegas series where he would rush down the boards and not even get the puck deep, it would get jammed up just inside the blue line, turned over, and right back up the ice.
As a result of his deficiencies in this area, it seems like Beagle is pretty much stapled along side him to make up for any defensive lapses, which again, hurts offensive production when you have a guy that offers almost nothing in that department on your line.
So yea.. i think Jake offers some good, but the bad and the deficiencies in his game outweigh the good, and i think he will never be intelligent enough to be a game changing power forward in the game. At best he is a guy you can bring up and down the lineup, but with our current roster and with potentially adding a Tofolli, etc. I dont know if he is a guy you can keep and pay to be a bottom 6 forward. | To add to what you're talking about.
Sounds like GMJB won't be shipping out draft picks as sweeteners (flat cap means you NEED picks over the next several years) and instead be packaging his horribly signed contracts with a young player.
Judging from this tweet, it's not hard to read between the lines and know that JV is a likely candidate.

If Jake asks for anything over $2.5 million, i don't think they're going to keep him.
I'd be down for straight up pool party. I don't think Holland will.
I feel Jake's career is somewhat going to be like Grabner's career. Speed + scoring. Grabner worked on his defensive game. Jake needs to do the same.

Jimbo is honest about everything it seems.
That's why the whole him vs linden vs brackett etc... story seems so weird that he can be a guy to backstab someone?

Starting goaltenders aren’t playing 70+ games/season anymore. 45-65 games is the expectation now for a starting goaltender, so roughly 1/3 of your team’s games are being started by your backup, usually on the back end of back-to-backs.
The leader this year was Price who was on pace for 67 starts before the season ended. Dubnyk led all goalies last year with 66.

Too bad the new Canucks' thread was created too soon, jr. and was rightfully closed. https://www.revscene.net/forums/7170...-thread-2.html
But it was a decent conversation about Canucks salary cap and options.
Let's continue it here...

Benning:
-Markstrom has earned the right to test free agency if they cant agree
-Demko is goalie of the future
-Loves motte, will get him re-signed
-Expected JV to be what Tuch was for Vegas
-Knows that Loui is being paid too much to be a defensive player
-Whether they can keep Markstrom, Tanev, and Toffoli will depend on what they can/cannot do with the other players

Vegas looked flat as can be against Dallas those first few games... I don’t expect that will continue, I’ll give Dallas some credit for finding another gear though

When this power forward is on his game, he's an unstoppable force.

I find myself rooting for Dallas and Tampa now. Can't really explain why as I have rooted for Vegas in the past lol. NYI I have no feelings towards except for maybe seeing Eberle be successful.

Tampa is in tough minus Stamkos and Point.. kinda feel for their fans tbh after last year’s sweep. If they were healthy, redemption would’ve come a lot easier in these playoffs.

still leading 2-1 and still able to score. Could be a lot worse but definitely going to be more of a struggle now.

I'm happy someone closed the other thread. murd0c is right. https://www.revscene.net/forums/7170...ml#post8998514 https://www.revscene.net/forums/7162...ml#post8998319
I miss those days when we all waited for murd0c to start the thread for the following season. Traditions are meant to be broken, I guess.
