7k 128i with a stick all day over the 1m or 135i.

Smash it, run it into the ground, get another one for the same price all day long. Don't get me wrong 1M is nice but it's too collectors-ish to be driving around everyday if you want to preserve the value. A 128i is 80% the dynamics at 20% of the cost.

TouringTeg 07-22-2019 09:26 PM

128i would be great for autox and back roads. I partially bought the 1M because of its rarity and collectibility. It is strictly a stress reliever fun car and I don't expect to add a lot of mileage.

Taming the power surge of the 1M twin turbos at autox is a challenge. I enjoy a challenge and like driving an exciting car. It is quite a handful with traction control off.

E90M3 07-22-2019 09:50 PM

I'd say the 128i would compare to an E36 M3.

Anyways.

Had to buy a new car battery. $295 for a Motomaster Ultra AGM H8/Group 49, well its $274 once I return old battery

re: falling p-car tax: yes the company is trying to pump out more GT products but is waning demand observed more because alberta's economy is shrinking and bc's real estate equity is reversing or is it a trend seen across north america and beyond?

It’s not so much waining demand as it is over-supply, the price melt is not local to any specific geographic region either.

It used to be that the vehicles for sale page on RL would occasionally have one or two GT3’s for sale, now the RL vehicles for sale page is dominated by GT cars.

Before 2015 autotrader.ca would have at most 4-5 GT cars for sale at any given time, now there is close to 200 when you count all GT2, GT2 RS, GT3, GT3 RS, and GT4.

TouringTeg 07-23-2019 07:34 AM

I hope 1M goes up and GT cars come down in price :D Porsche has done a good job of meeting demand instead of letting flippers reap the profits. It is a fine balance to keep them exclusive and exciting but also maximize sales numbers.

Just completed my first autox in my 1M this past Sunday. Stock with 2 deg negative camber in the front.

Turn in and rotation was great. My biggest challenge was learning to handle the surge in torque from the twin turbo. NA is certainly more linear for low speed (2nd gear max) autox that I run locally.

I tried with Sport mode on and MDM and it was way too sensitive and twitchy. Switched to just MDM then traction control off. Much better. It will take a lot more seat time to get used to the car.

I'm on Michelin Pilot Sports (new) and certainly miss the RE71R I used to run. Everyone runs them at our my local autox now as they are cheap and plentiful at Costco. They are too soft for lapping days / HPDE unfortunately. Fun on track but RE71R don't last.

Are you running the Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Pilot Sport PS2?

I've had Michelin Pilot Sports, Pilot Super Sports, Firestone Firehawk Indy 500, Hankook RS4s.

If you want something similar to the PSS, but at much more of a bargain, without significant inside shoulder wear, get the Firestone! Plenty of grip and good treadlife. Plus I got a set for sale LOL

That said, if you want something closer to RE71R, get the Hankook RS4s. Great tire, you'll be holding grip on the last few sessions of a lapping day, while everyone else on RE71Rs are slipping around. Plus they last so much longer

TouringTeg 07-23-2019 03:56 PM

I have Michelin Pilot Sport. I think they are the OEM replacement. Appreciate the info.

I'll take some later. Any specific shots you want?

Thank you Really just curious to see how much the 275 bulges on the 9.5 I know all tire brands are different and even 19" will be a little different than 18"

These are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+. Michelins generally sit wider than other tire brands from what I've seen personally.

Ignore my swirly ass paint, Jerez Black is a high maintenance paint.

"Strictly the biggest shit talkers only. Change your oil, tighten your lug nuts, fix your boost leaks, buy some tires, or just come out to see what happens.

NHRA approved helmet not required since none of you fools are doing better than 13.99 on the quarter mile (unless you have a passenger)."

LMAO

Thanks that fits pretty square.

BIC_BAWS 07-28-2019 02:53 PM

So I got another code today ._. sigh. It's a code I thought I already fixed:

D3: dme: idle-speed control valve mechanical fault - with the wonderful triffecta of lights - DSC full off and EML

The first time around I replaced (all new) intake boots and a bosche idle control valve. Thankfully, I purchased from FCP Euro, but the labour to put the ICV in is gonna be another nightmare.

I'm doubtful that it's mechanical fault AGAIN, especially because it's a NEW BOSCHE unit.

Anyone got any ideas?

What do you guys think about a 128i auto for the wife? Does it sap all the fun out of it?
She's not going to learn to drive stick but would like a cute little 2dr coupe to run around in.
