But it reminds me of my childhood. It kinda looks like those blocky interiors of the mr2 and mk4 supra (not blocky but it comes up quite high and has that big plastic)

I hate to say it but I love the retro look. It’s cheap as fuck but I’ll take it

On the topic of interiors, I'm curious what constitutes as a "cheap" interior? If we're talking about a Soviet-era Lada or Yugo, okay. But in today's modern world, companies have improved plastics and interior trims to be lightweight and/or a combination of safety engineered into it.

Unless we expect Maybach or Rolls Royce quality, then we should all be protesting against the automotive manfucaturers outside of dealerships, yeah?

I'm glad they're at least getting rid of most of the stupid piano black stuff but why is the starter button behind the wiper stalk?

I kinda like it in some weird way, feels like a command centre on a 1980's warship or something lol

Ahhh my bread and butter, from real world clients
- lack of soft touch material in general but espeically on the door card/window switch area
- hard plastic interior door handle / window switches
- hard plastic dash in general (though Hyundai has a way to disguise this very well)
- big bezels when the screen is on
- only 4 to 6 speakers? General consensus is like 8 to 9 speakers or bust
- manual seats
- general fit and finish (which again Hyundai gets alot of compliments of)

Unfotunately it seems domestics still have seams that dont line up, gaps here and there, seam line on the glove box etc etc....

I actually complained to my Tesla rep on delivery day because my fake "wood" trim doesn't line up from the dash onto the door (like the edge height is uneven). The worse was, passenger side somewhat lines up, maybe off by 1/16in, where as my driver door to the dash is a good 1/4in off, and i was told this is "within spec".... lol.... Tesla costed me $55K

Like bro....have to diy it to "line up better", lots of info online though... which I guess means its a common problem ...ammmiiiright? XD

I wonder how much of that is getting pointed out by the average customer because of YouTube content creators pointing them out in car reviews.

The Lexus version of this car is an interesting variation - sounds like it's coming out next year (but probably not in NA)

That video was an amazing watch, the man is just experiencing pure joy... I love the parting words at the end "This is my buddy, this is my friend"

Also why the hell have I not gone to the Fuji Speedway hotel yet lol

I didn't know they were making a Lexus version of the GR Corolla, pretty neat looks great for a small SUV

Akio Toyoda is goated for sure.

Also some insight into the design/engineering choices Toyota made for the new GR Yaris, especially around the interior layout. I personally quite like it, definitely looks retro, the blocky look is unique for sure, quite rally-inspired if anything.

I was thinking about this when they said "AT is not good for track use" while German/Korean DCT feel great (tbh the ZF8 is good but not great even though each sequential shift only requires releasing and engaging a single shift element).

But.... I remembered the best FWD based ATs (including the Aisin box used by BMW/Mini/Volvo and the Honda box) are all very bad at downshifting due to packaging constraints keeping torque capacity low AND requiring shifts to release multiple shift elements.

If Toyota's cracked torque capacity and shift speeds with their new FWD AT, this is huge news.
