Whatever happened to just doing what feels right to you and not having to reaffirm it on a public forum?

I mean if you wanted to wait for a Pfizer no one was forcing you and you chose to post it online expect to get debated? Seems a bit silly to go back and criticize people for giving opinions based on what they knew at the time... could have easily gone the other way too and all been a hoax.

It’s like picking on people for not making the right stock picks after you see how it did.

If I was public facing, I probably would have got the AZ a few weeks back... but since I work from home I had the luxury of being like “I think I’ll wait” and it was moreso cuz my whole family has had the Pfizer shot and has zero reactions so I figure the odds are favourable for me that way since we’re all genetically similar. Whether that theory is justifiable or not, I had the luxury to believe it.

i wanted as much protection as soon as possible to eliminate as much liability as I could from keeping my store open. I'm in front of people every single day.

I have ne regrets about my decision, or the extra 4-6 weeks of protection I received from making it.

Looking forward to shot #2 - and I really don't care which one it is. Hopefully I also receive that dose 4-6 weeks ahead of my age cohort, further protecting my shop ASAP.

It's a discussion forum, I just stated my opinion after others stated theirs. There was a lot of opinions about how people didn't understand the odds and it was ridiculous to even think about not taking the AZ shot if it's the one offered to you, and I decided to throw out my point of view opposing it.

No need to reaffirm anything, just talking about things related to Covid in a thread about Covid.

I don’t blame anyone who went either way, getting any vaccine period provided piece of mind

It’s moreso the government’s messaging which ended up looking terrible (big surprise)

I think realistically the governments best angle now is get the second AZ doses to people that have it and don’t bother with anymore first shots. It’s the best damage control they can do. I don’t blame them for mixed messaging, as I said science evolves. The worst thing they could do is ignore the evolution of it. People wanted themselves and others to be vaccinated as fast as possible, and AZ was the only option for that to happen. At the time the 2 million shots they had was nearly doubling what we had. They had to make a choice and I still believe it was the right one.
As I said UK has given more of the AZ shot than anywhere in the world, and as of the end of this month, restrictions will be removed almost entirely. Any loss of life or health is tragic, however it happened, but there is a massive net benefit they have had in peoples health and steps to return to a normal life and keep people in their country safe.

Maj.-Gen. Fortin reportedly facing historic sexual misconduct allegation

The guy in charge of Canada's vaccine rollout is "stepping aside" because he couldn't keep his dick in his pants years ago.

It's kind of relevant that 'years ago' is 30+ years ago lol. Yes he should step down, but this public outrage is (imo) manufactured.

This is a few days old but Vegas is putting the responsibility of mask policies in the hands of the casinos. Most casinos have taken down the plastic dividers and are saying if you're vaccinated masks are optional for guests and employees oh and btw this is the honour system we won't be checking if you're vaccinated.

I donno, I think the CDC jumped the gun there a bit, but from my understanding being fully vaccinated means your chances of both contracting and spreading the virus is very low.

Which means that by removing safeguards the ones at most risk are those who are actively and intentionally refusing the vaccine?

While it's unfortunate to have that happen to anyone, the AZ shots also prevented many people from having complications or dying from COVID. From the sounds of the article the major screwup was with whoever was telling him to stay home and not go right to the hospital.

I'd agree with all of that. I only made the post because I follow some poker vloggers and noticed that they were showing videos of no masks and dividers down and it looked pretty crowded. That contrasted with what's still going on here and the restrictions we have was pretty large.

I don't know what the answer is and I really don't know what it will look like here in 3 months, probably not like that. I guess we'll see how it works out for them, currently they don't have many international travellers there it's all mainly locals throughout the US.

Imagine being one of those that have been affected by the AZ blood clots. I don't even know how I'd even begin to live life knowing that there were other safer options out there and I took the jump because the government said it's all good.
That's the reason I was so adamant about the AZ shot, despite the numbers not being insanely bad. All I had to do was picture a family member going to get it, based on my recommendation (I've had to convince some people to get vaccinated), and then getting sick from it or worse...

I'm pretty confident in the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine, but if I had to convince someone to get the AZ vaccine and they got really sick with a blood clot, I can't even imagine how I would react. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

So instead people like me said wait. And yes hindsight proved that right, but hindsight doesn't change the argument we were making in the first place. Can't have it both ways

Dr. Bonnie's Covid update for the past weekend:

1360 new cases, 14 dead, 350 in hospital, decrease of 37. 132 in ICU, decrease of 9
5021 active cases

It's the first time in a long time that I have seen the doctor smile during a Covid update.

Dr. B said "Take selfies when you get your shot"

-celebrating a big too early now that people 18+ can book a vaccine?

We'll see if the doctor is still smiling after the May long weekend.

i would feel the same way if somebody I knew contracted a serious covid case somewhere in the window between AZ availability and waiting for an mRNA shot.

I guess we should both be thankful that neither situation came to pass for either of us.

unfortunately both situations have happened to others.

Nothings changing next week. The way they just dance around it when they are asked the questions is infuriating. Just give us a threshold or something. 400 new cases a day on Friday? We’re open. 401 not happening. The lack of clarity got old around November.

I get my shot tomorrow through the provincial program, so pfizer or moderna.

I actually tried to get the AZ shot last month when health canada re-opened them up to my age group and I registered with several pharmacies but the pharmacies all went out of stock in all of a day (especially with the walk-ins they were doing) and I was too late.

What's funny is that I got my provincial booking notice last monday and then on tuesday got notification from the pharmacy to book. I would have taken the AZ through the pharmacy if it came first, but I'm just a little relieved to have got the mRNA booked first.

The government better start thinking about their policies soon, especially the indoor gatherings at private residences. Once my two weeks are up, I'm visiting all my relatives who are already vaccinated regardless of what the government says.

The allegation is that it's sexual misconduct, not even as serious as sexual assault. He probably flashed this woman or went streaking or something. Yeah it's a big fucking joke that it's something that we're talking about 30 years later.

You know after 2 weeks, you're only partially vaccinated right? You need the second dose to be fully vaccinated.
