mikemhg | 11-16-2020 12:22 PM | Just a bump as more news has come out for one of the worst cases of this crap this year, Ahmaud Arbery.
Some folks in this thread had issues with people saying "systemic", that it's not a thing, etc.
If some of you recall this shooting, he was a black man in Georgia simply going for jog in the daytime, one of the shooters was Gregory McMichael, who previously worked as a GCPD officer from 1982 to 1989, and as an investigator for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office from 1995 to his retirement in May 2019.
The DA assigned to the case attempted to cover the shooting up by not arresting the father and son involved in this shooting, now reports are coming up that the father attempted to utilize his ties to the police in order to influence the case even further. https://thehill.com/homenews/state-w...ime-of-killing
As well, texts have now came out of the ex-officer's son, discussing shooting a coon: https://abcnews.go.com/US/racial-tex...ry?id=74168492 "When asked by Cobb County Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jesse Evans about a text exchange between the two in which they allegedly discussed shooting a black person with gold teeth," In a previous bond hearing for Bryan, Evans said Bryan repeatedly used the n-word in texts. Bryan took cellphone video of the shooting and told authorities he heard Travis McMichael say a racial slur when he shot Arbery three times.
I feel like I'm repeating myself when saying systemic, but I truly don't understand how some folks don't see this clear connection between these people with racist ideals, and their connection to and within law enforcement.
You'll notice this is a case that the "All lives matter" folks prefer to avoid, because it doesn't fit into their narrative like George Floyd, a more flawed individual easier to character assassinate in a method to otherwise undermine this subject. |
